sencha

Green Tea by Yamadashi Ya

Great sencha from a small Kyoto merchant. It has those classic sencha vegital aromas and flavors. There are a few cut stem pieces in with the leaves, so it is probably mechanically harvested. Yamadashi Ya has a roaster and a grinder right there in his shop so he can make houjicha and matcha to order.

I start every morning with a cup of sencha. I’m so glad we brought a couple hundred grams of this back from Japan with us. I’ll be sad when we finish it off next month.

Just opened our last 100g package. I’ll have to either visit Japan again, or switch back to Harney & Sons Sencha. Oh, the agony of it all.

Our usual brew: 7g in our sencha pot. We use the hot water straight out of our bottled water tap at about 65 degrees C. Brew for 30 seconds before pouring. An excellent way to start your day.
