Rooibos African Spice

Rooibos Tea by Yogi Tea

In the warmth of the mountains of southern Africa, the Rooibos grows hanging onto cliffs and absorbing the intense sun. Within the last decade, the enjoyable light, flowery taste of Rooibos and its reputation as a natural anti-oxidant has spread around the globe. This Yogi Tea variety blends Rooibos with our famous Classic spices to create a marriage of joy, serenity and warmth. Yogi Tea Rooibos is delicious with or without milk or sweetener, and is also great as a refreshing iced tea. Have a sip and enjoy a taste of Africa!

Guess today is a Yogi Tea day. I received this from kittylovestea. Basically a few weeks ago she wanted to clean out her bagged tea selection and I volunteered for one of her mystery parcels. There was also a very pretty hippy necklace that I love and have now attacked my boyfriend with. He doesn’t seem to mind.

This smells spicy! It would appear that the bag ripped in transit, but it has done nothing for or against the strong scent and color.

The taste is not as strong concerning the accent notes I am accustomed to in rooibos, but it is notably strong and equally smooth. I think I can tastee a bit of the paper the company wrapped it in, but overall there is this amazing quality of age and grace, akin to one of those big ancient tome-sized dictionaries that sit on a pedastal. I think a lot of the nuances I am enjoying about this tea have to do with it being god-knows-how-old. I taste rooibost, dust, paper, cinnamon, sweet and old leather almost. More akin to a fine cigar than an herbal tea!

Shame there was only one teabag of this.

This red chai has a velvety body and a sweet, mild flavor. It’s spicy but not bold. A nice choice if you want to try a red chai. Iced, a very refined drink. Hats off to Yogi!

mmmmm…. Lush, sweet, light and spicy.. Great combination and balance.. The rooibos is fresh and mildly sweet and I love the different spices, but it’s not strong. Except; the aftertaste of black pepper is a bit overpowering for my delicate taste buds. Would prefer a stronger taste of ginger instead.
The tea is soothing and stimulating

This is the tea that got me into serious tea drinking about two years ago, it’s got a pretty good, warming taste without sugar.
