Holy berries, Batman! This herbal is berries through and through. The elderberries and black currant seemed to dominate, but every now and then I could taste a bit of blackberry. I could see strawberry bits in the dry tea, but I never tasted them in the infusion. The other berry flavors completely overpowered it. I would have liked to have less elderberry and more strawberry. There is also hibiscus in here, of which I am not a fan. It was not overpowering, but every now and then I would get that jaw clinching tart note. So not my favorite herbal, but still a good one.

My 3rd and final sample from Zen Tea. I had to get this as a sample. Not only was it a fruit tea, but the name was just so cute. Grandma’s Garden, aawww.

I had this while I making breakfast (at 3). When I opened the packaged I was smacked in the face with so many deep berry flavors I simply couldn’t wait to try it out!

It steeped into a mauve color and smelled just as great as the leaves did. This is tea has a more prominent dark berry taste than it does sweet berries, but you can definitely taste a bit of everything in there. This is a tea that would probably be really great with some honey or agave.

This is what all of those dusty sort-of fruit teas from Celestial Seasonings wish they were. This blend does everything better: a widely varied medley of real dried fruit and hibiscus as a supporting role, not the main character. The taste is tart berry jam through and through. I’d be interested in sipping this next to a cup of that Buttered Toast tea 52Teas makes. My only complaint would be that most of the flavor dominates up front but doesn’t give much of an aftertaste. Still, I can say without hesitation that this is one of the best herbal fruit infusions I’ve had the pleasure of tasting.

While I can’t say I loved this tea, I won’t say it was bad. It has a heavy taste and no one flavor or fruit shines through. Maybe the problem is that there are too many good things in the blend and they have to fight for attention.
Nonetheless, I am grateful I got this sampler from Zen Tea and for such a good price. (I can’t recall exactly, but it was under $2, I think.) A sampler from Zen gives you enough to taste a few cups and then decide and that’s what it’s all about – finding what you like. (For future reference to myself, don’t be in a hurry to re-order.)

Had a teapot of this lovely tea at “The Gilted Lily” tea house in Greensburg, IN. What a great taste. The waitress didn’t know which brand it was, and here I found it on this site! How do I get other samples? ….Tea Lover Maddie
