Black Tea by Zhena's Gypsy Tea
Assam is the world’s largest tea growing region. This is where Assam bush, Camellia sinensis assamica, was discovered in 1823. Assam tea is low-grown and holds a reputation as the strongest, full-bodied tea to be found. Our Breakfast Bliss has been hand selected from countless Assam teas for its deep copper-walnut leaf and russet tip. This cup offers a rich raisiny depth and honey sweetness. A pleasant breakfast blend. At first I thought that there was Assam in this blend because my first few sips had a sort of malty quality to it, but, that has developed into more of a “baked” taste. Some fruit notes to it, as well as some lingering floral notes. Ends with a clean but not overwhelmingly astringent feel.

This is probably one of my favorite colors a tea has ever produced! It’s a Purple-Red-Brown – very deep, very rich. The taste is very flavorful for a bagged tea. Smells like a Breakfast Tea also tastes like one with smooth ending…I like it!
I enjoy this tea…this is one of my go-to teas for the morning.
Aroma: Typical Assam style. Malty, somewhat astringent, a little “thick” and “heady”…but not as much so as Lipton’s Brisk [regular black].
Taste: Same as aroma…unlike Lipton’s, this is a little smoother with a slight hint of sweetness.
Aftertaste: Thick, a little mouth feel with a delightful smoothness.
I must say, I LOVE everything about this company’s products. Their teas always seem to taste so fresh, everyone I have [including samples received] have not disappointed me yet! No matter how long I keep the sachet in the water, Zhena’s gypsy teas do not get overpowering, at least, not to me. Zhena’s gypsy tea packaging is cool too.
