This sample came to me by way of LiberTeas and her big box of samples on Teatra.de. Since I am cleaning house (well, trying!) in terms of samples I opted to use this guy for a pot for the beau and I after work. I’m not getting much aroma from the loose leaves, but I’m assuming this tea is getting older, since most reviews of it are from a year ago or more. I will admit up front that I am very uncertain about banana flavour in tea – Most banana teas involve chamomile which is the bane of my existance, so the opportunity to try banana cheesecake is too good to pass up.

Knowing that Frank’s black tea base and I don’t always get along very well, I let the water cool to 95C and only steeped for 3 minutes. These precautions yield a brick red liquor with very little aroma, though there is a tinge of bitterness underneath (almost coffee-ish). There’s not much by way of banana or cheesecake in the aroma but there is a vague sweetness on top of it all. If I could just get the “top” lawyer of the aroma, this would be a very appetizing smell.

First sips are pretty nice. No bitterness, but also no banana. I’ll chalk that up to the age of the tea and the fact that it was in a little plastic bag next to lots of other teas for a while. The general flavour is sweet and lovely, reminiscent of 52Teas’ Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish. I’m not really getting cheesecake here, but there is definite sweetness. Very nice to have tried!

Okay…I’m being daring here…I HATE BANANAS! No…you don’t understand! I REALLY HATE BANANAS! But…I thought I would challenge myself with this one today.

Thanks for the chance to try LiberTEAs!

The Banana aroma isn’t as intense as I thought it would be and I am thankful for that.
The liquor of the tea is quite light in color for a black tea.
There is a slight cheesecake aroma hiding underneath.

The first sip I took I could taste the banana and made a funny face.
The 2nd sip I could taste something more like Banana Peels then actual Banana.
The 3rd sip there was a certain creaminess to it much like a cheese cake, I suppose, but I’m really not convinced.

Where I would give actually bananas a review of -10 I will NOT rate this tea as such. It wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t finish the cup but I wouldn’t make a purchase just because it was banana.

I will be pretty generic with this rating and since it’s on a scale of 100 I will go a little bit above the middle rating of 50.

Of all the cheesecake blends Frank has this is the first one I truly tasted the cheesecake and that part was by far my favorite experience with this tea. The banana was only slightly present. Nevertheless, not too bad a blend at all.

Had this this morning! It smells a lot like banana and not a lot like cheesecake kind of like the lime cheesecake. It tastes almost like chocolate, white chocolate to be precise. I think that might be the cheesecake flavor though. I really like it though. Very delicious!

This is one that I’ve been looking forward to tasting ever since I received the box from Zoomdweebies, but, I just haven’t tried until now…

There is an unusual almost “alcohol” taste to this one – sort of like the cheesecake were made with banana liqueur or something. It’s not a bad taste, just unexpected. A smooth, creaminess to it – yummy cheesecake…

It’s good – not as good as I had hoped for given that I swoon over most of Frank’s banana teas… but it is tasty.

Yummy… I still get that “banana liquor” kind of taste to it rather than actual banana. It isn’t Frank’s best banana tea but it is still good. I like that I can taste the cheesecake flavors.

Backlogging …

I had this tea this afternoon with my lunch… I am still tasting that sort of liqueur type taste with this, but it is tasty nonetheless.

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me abit of this to try. Thank you very much. Now I am not a fan of bananas in tea I much refer it in baked goods and them by thereselfs I decided to give this tea a try anyway. This tea mostly tastes like banana with abit of creaminess and tang. I think this tea is decent I would rate this in the 60’s. I did like the cheesecake part though.
