The Steeper from DAVIDsTEA

The Steeper

It’s Magic

How does this superwow accessory work? Like a teapot. Except the clear, BPA-free plastic lets you watch as your tea steeps. And when you’re ready to sip, just place the steeper right on your cup. You’ll feel a rush as the weight magically opens a valve, and your infused tea flows out through a specially-designed filtration system. Then, when you lift the steeper, the valve closes automatically. It just might be the neatest, coolest way to steep.

Love, love, love this product. In fact I purchased more than one so that I could be different tea at once for my family. Super easy to use and clean and very user friendly.

I cannot rave more about my Steeper!! When I bought it, I never thought I would use it. I use it at least, AT LEAST once a day! The mesh inside is wonderful for the smaller peices of tea that the bigger steepers (teapots) don’t catch. I loved mine so much I bought one for my Dad’s girlfriend for Christmas, and I am thinking about getting a second for when I make my husband tea.

DavidsTea is having an end-of-summer clearance (ends tomorrow), with 60% off summer items, including The Steeper and an iced tea Perfect Pitcher. So instead of $20, the Steeper was $8 and Perfect Pitcher was $12 instead of $30. With The Steeper being so highly rated on Steepster, S couldn’t resist those prices. Can’t wait to get them home and try.

Right now S drinks a few glasses of Trader Joe’s black iced tea every day, but S is hoping to go through our big tin of Kusmi’s Anastasia quicker.

I have the 16oz one and I use it to steep all my teas. It’s perfect for big leaves tea such as oolong, it leaves the space for the leaves to uncurl and all the savors to get in, I definitely would recommand it, especially since it’s very easy to use and even more so to wash, unlike others infusers.

SO happy I finally have one of these in my cupboard (500mL/18oz version)! Just used it to make my first iced tea of the season (which was the whole reason I bought it XD) The only unfortunate thing is the first tea I picked to use with it isn’t that great…

I stocked up on a bunch of loose leaf to use specifically for iced teas last summer, but just ended up going to my local DAVIDsTEA to get them to make it all the time (hated screwing around with water quantities, etc. at home). Iced tea season is upon us, so it was time to get one of these xD

love this steeper for making lattes. Really allows the leaf to open up

Alchemist's Fire

Ooh, I’ll have to try that at some point! I usually either drink mine clear or with just a touch of white sugar (although I’m starting to taste the different agave makes…will have to get some of that next time xD)

I just made a 3rd iced tea in it, used DT’s Hard Candy this time, and it was PERFECT.

Nice! If you drink lots of iced tea I recommend getting one of their iced tea pitchers too :) easily makes 2L at a time

Alchemist's Fire

I probably should get a pitcher, I’d make iced tea all year round, honestly.

I am slightly ashamed to admit it, but I bought the 36 oz and 18 oz versions of this within days of each other – it is SO dang easy to make tea with this thing!! No infuser to deal with that inevitably leaks over the little lid-coaster onto the table.

I haven’t encountered any staining yet but I plan on giving them baking soda baths proactively to counter that. I love the styling and it’s so lovely to look at the tea when it’s steeping. These make me want to keep making tea just so I can watch it steep!

Love my steeper. Used for iced teas most, although meant for hot. Easy to clean. I would recommend this to every tea drinker.

I freakin love this thing so much you have no idea
This was one of my sister’s christmas presents to me, but I bought it because I get points hehe :)
I’ve been brewing all my teas with this thing because it’s so easy to use and so easy with cleanup! At first I was confused with the cleanup, but I just pop the mesh out, and then pop out the bottom plug thing and viola, easy peasy! Be wary though. Make sure that the rubber thingies in the plug section are on correct bc this morning, I didn’t exactly pop everything back into place and it started leaking. Boiling water all over your hands is a bad thing… and I tried fixing it, and it just got stuck.
And when you place it on the stand, make sure it’s centered because then again, leaks!

It’s super easy to use, but keep in mind that you’re working with hot liquid and if it’s not sealed correctly, that liquid can leak.

Lovely lovely LOVELY and I’ll definitely keep using this again and again! My teapot is just used for show now :)

I reviewed this a few months back, but I decided to delete the note because I don’t think my review was entirely fair.

I owned a steeper 2-3 years back but had to throw mine away due to the fact I always left tea leaves sit in there FOREVER and they rotted and the rotten smell never got out of my steeper. Fast forward to now: I’ve been making tea lattes using rooibos teas at home and the mesh baskets I have from DAVIDS still allow rooibos pieces through. I know this steeper is awesome for filtering out everything so I decided to purchase a new one. This thing is awesome. It allows the flavours to really get in to the water and I know I’m adding enough water due to the position of the DAVID’s TEA logo . I like how you can put it on top of your cup and the water drains right into your cup, and honestly, unlike what I previously thought, as long as you get to it right away this steeper is just fine to clean. Just spoon out as much of the leaves as you can into the trash, then I just rinse and pour any remaining leaves down the drain (I just use rooibos teas in this so I know there won’t be enough leaves to clog the sink). Overall I’m bumping up my rating from a 70 to a 90, because I was just lazy about cleaning my old steeper and was mad at myself for ruining it, lol.
