I’m having a rough day. Yesterday was also a rough day. I have a kink that runs from the base of my skull on the left, through various points in my neck, shoulder blade, rotator, elbow, wrist, & down into the hand. Over the years I’ve sustained several injuries to my left side, & I’m here to tell the young people in the room, be good to your body, because as you grow older (I’m 55), every injury you’ve ever had will come back to haunt you…again & again. So…whether it’s the junk food I ate over the weekend (chronic inflammation flareup = the cause of most autoimmune diseases, including arthritis, tendonitis, diabetes, heart disease, etc), the weather changes, the fact that I just started Taichi again after a fairly long hiatus (you get that energy moving along those meridians & it hits blockages, which results in pain, at least at first), or a combo of all of the above, I’m kind of bitchy right now, & my only friends today have been an ice pack alternating with a hot rice sock, & another sock with 2 tennis balls in it. I hate pain. I suffered a week ago from accidentally eating something with nitrates in it, & I used to be in pain all the time. So after months of living pain free, due to changes in my diet, I’m not very happy today.

As my dear Tea Fairie said, “We can still enjoy tea” (or something like that).
So I’m doing some flavored teas now…this one is from Awkward Soul, sent for Sil & I to share. It has coffee in it, I saw the granules in the mix. It also has chocolate. I don’t drink coffee, but I also don’t hate coffee, so I’m actually enjoying this cup a little. I added stevia & vanilla almond milk, because I was feeling whiny & nostalgic, & without the sweetening, the tea sucked. The rest goes to Sil, so I get to claim a sipdown. I was at 327, but I just added 6 teas that came in the mail today, so now I’m at 331.
I’ll quit bitching now.

I know the pain also. The weather transportation backup has us at least 10 hours and sometimes 12 hour shifts. The old body lets you know about it too. I hope you get feeling better soon. nothing better than a cuppa some days.

I’m so excited to have found this community! I’m a self-employed Harpist (acoustic & electric – Originals, Classical, Rock, Jazz, etc) & Singer/Songwriter. My days & nights revolve around teaching at home, playing gigs, gardening,& fixing awesome food to eat. My schedule is different everyday, but I just go with the flow, & I sip a lot of tea!

My love of Tea began with Herbals back in the 70’s. One of my favorites was a licorice blend from House of Hezekiah, an old tea shop in Kansas City. There was also a tea with mint, rose petals, chamomile, etc called Nuclear Casual Tea.
In the 80’s I gave up caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, (& a few illicit substances…), and brewed medicinal blends & tinctures to support 4 pregnancies (all children born at home). In the 90’s my love affair with green teas began when I discovered ‘The Republic of Tea’. Their beautiful teas & packaging inspired my original song, “TeaMind”, from my CD “Zen Breakfast”. If you’d like to hear the song for free, drop by my website.

In general, I drink my teas straight, but occasionally I add a pinch of Stevia & maybe some coconut or almond milk (I’m allergic to dairy, gluten, & various other things & avoid most sweets.)

I’ve explored a variety of teas:
Whites tend to be a little bland…sorry
Oolongs – wonderfully sensual
Roobios – I’m not a fan in general
Puehr – a fairly new direction for me
I’m not a huge fan of flavored teas, but I do make exceptions, & I’ll try just about anything once.

And Black Tea, Oh how I love thee!!
I am on a quest for the most wonderful breakfast cup! I will find you, my Love!
