Ah yes, the cold/holiday hiatus. That has been me for the last two weeks.

I’m on Day 6 of this lingering nasty cold. I have my very sweet and cute nieces and nephews to thank for that. My lovely mother bought this for me as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. She tried it at a friends house and knew that my favourite green tea was Moroccan Mint/North African mint teas. I had tried this one previous (received it as a sample) but hadn’t purchased it yet. It has been a god send for my cold.

At first sniff: This is a very spicy smelling blend. I pick out all the spices and they work very well together. DELICIOUS!

At first steep: This tea tastes amazing. I also like Moroccan Mint by Stash, which is less spicy, more spearmint and minty. But this is a nice version of it. It’s zippy and very clearing to the sinuses. It also helps the tummy. The mint and the green tea take a back seat in this blend, throughout all the steeps, but I kind of like that I am not getting an in your face green tea flavour.

At second steep: The spices come out more, and the mint takes a back seat. This steeps extremely well in the second steeping.

At third steep: Getting fainter, but still delicious and those that don’t appreciate the strong spices, would like this subdued version of it.

At fourth steep: It’s very watery, but I’ll take it, seeing as I am sick and all. It’s nice that you can do this many steeps with it. It could definitely be considered a value tea at this rate! Love love love!

My passion for tea started at a very young age, thanks to my grandmothers beautiful china tea cup collection. I use to brew Tetley’s or whatever version of Orange Pekoe she had in the cupboard and pick out my favourite tea cup to use. It wasn’t until I was in my late teens that I really started to develop a passion for it. My town had the Urban Tea Merchant and it was there I was exposed to high tea and the very fancy Mariage Freres brand. When they switched over to The O Dor, my girlfriend and I found salvation in going for a lovely cup of tea and decompress with some tea scones.

It has since become an obsession. I have a tea cupboard, filled with a very large variety of teas. I also use the Breville Tea Maker to make my tea. I favour black teas, with a close second being North African Mint Green Tea. Because I have the luxury of working from home, I get to enjoy a wonderful cup of tea every morning, and the journey resets daily.
