drank Chamomile by Harney & Sons
652 tasting notes

I had teased my friend for getting all excited that she ordered a chamomile tea from Harney and Sons, because to me, chamomile is just a generic herbal tea that’s usually stuffed in bags and old people drink it. No offense everyone, it just never occurred to me to order it loose, what a waste of money that could be put toward Golden Monkey or something! Seriously!

She was raving about chamomile and I told her I’m not sure if I have ever even tried it. Probably just in tea bag form long before I cared about tea. So she gave me a big sample to try.

I’ve been putting it off, honestly, because though I’ve actually said before that I need some herbals for nighttime, I was less than enthused about the idea of chamomile. “Old lady tea”.

Anyway, I sucked it up and made some at 11pm, wanted tea without worrying about caffeine.

Sooooo it’s not terrible, I will give her that. I definitely recall trying chamomile before because the taste is unmistakable. Surprisingly sweet, like honey. Though it has the smell of feet or something. Like, feet that have been in wool socks and work boots all day. Not freshly washed feet that have been treated with a peppermint lotion.

But it didn’t taste like feet, so that’s good. Because I already drank a tea earlier tonight that had a delightful vomity note to it.

I will drink the rest of what she gave me, and I would consider stocking a cheap bagged chamomile …I will tell you why -

Because I’m sitting here feeling totally relaxed and mellow and sleepy. It’s pretty sweet.

I’m probably going to go give the baby her nighttime feeding and hit the sack.

Ok chamomile, you’ve won this round……

Nighty night!

Try Butiki’s Lavender Chamomile! It smells like wonderful lavender- not feet. It’s delicious and I’m obsessed with it

+1 for the Lavender Chamomile

Ah! So happy to find someone else who can identify feet notes in tea, lol!

Marzipan

It is pedestrian but Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Vanilla is great to have around for this, as is the “Extra” one.

ohfancythat

yes, feet notes for sure! haha

thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Courtney

I am with you on your thoughts on chamomile. I have decided it’s not for me, but perhaps I should give it another go.

ohfancythat

It wasn’t too awful and the nice relaxing effect might have been worth it :)

Hello!

I love tea. I love my mini-me daughter, my husband, my dog Wally, Netflix, shopping, and tea. Some other stuff too, but these are the most important!

Some favourites -

My new favourite tea company is A Quarter to Tea. I love the flavouring used and how it doesn’t seem fake, and the combinations are so delicious. Right up my alley.

My favourite teas are black, I love Laoshan Black and Taiwanese Wild Mountain Black tea from TTC. Also many of Teavivre’s black teas.

Butiki teas RIP, I loved how the flavours were subtle and not fake tasting and didn’t overwhelm the tea base. Trust that I am dramatically mourning the loss of this company!

Teavivre, Whispering Pines and Mariage Freres are some more tea companies I appreciate. Along with Davidstea as it was the ‘gateway drug’ to my tea addiction. Though I’m mostly over it now, I’ve definitely moved on from the artificially flavoured teas and am trying more quality straight teas!

My ultimate goal is to try as many French teas as possible – and to finally find a source in Canada for Mariage Freres so I can buy Wedding Imperial, and Black Orchid for sure.

I would like to try any Taiwanese Assams that exist in the world!

Also continuously on the hunt for Fauchon – La Naissance. If anyone has some of this I would pay for it!!! It’s my number one all time favourite tea.

When I rate, it goes like this:

85 -100 = WIN! awesome, I love this and keep it on hand
70 – 85 = pretty darn good but I don’t NEED to own it
55 – 70 = not necessarily terrible but not a tea for me!
30 – 55 = missed the mark as far as I am concerned. Wouldn’t drink it willingly.
0 – 30 = I likely won’t rate this low very often, so if you see it, consider the tea a great big FAIL and probably disgusting.
