Not too bad. This if the first chocolate tea that I’d say actually tastes chocolatey. A little too sweet for me but I bet it would make a nice evening tea.
30 Tasting Notes
I think this is the first tea that I would say I hated. It tasted like a big cup of Mr. Clean and I couldn’t finish it. Down the drain it went.
Alright, so I’m not a kiwi fan so this might not be a fair assessment of this tea but this was shockingly bad. I got about half the cup down and poured the rest out.
Tea #24. Well this is the end of the tea advent calendar but it’s a great one to go out on. I really liked this one and it was perfect on a cold Christmas Eve.
- of 24. I was very surprised by this tea. I wasn’t expecting much but I enjoyed my cup of tea this morning. Nice walnut flavor and sweet but not too sweet. Nice bit of caffeine kick.
#17. Quite a sweet tea but didn’t seem very complex to me. It was enjoyable to drink but not very memorable.
#16. Wow this smells bad. It might just be me but the smell put me off right away and I’m struggling to describe it, maybe clove? Luckily it doesn’t taste anything like it smells. Green tea and mint, that’s it. I thought it was quite boring and didn’t finish the cup.
#14. This didn’t taste like I expected. I was thinking it would have more of a berry flavor but it’s like berry and lemon. This is a favorite of a friend of mine so I was expecting more than I got.
#13. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name but not bad. To me it smelled like melons, kind of like cantaloupe. Surprisingly it had a melon flavor since that doesn’t seem to be one of the ingredients. It tasted like the white part between the rind and red part of watermelon. I don’t think it will make it into regular rotation but it was enjoyable.
Tea #12. Seems to taste almost exactly like Sleigh Ride that I had yesterday. I said that Sleigh Ride tasted like liquid apple pie, well this tastes like a cross between apple and pecan pie to me. Overall not quite as good as Sleigh Ride for me so I’m rating it a little lower.
- in the advent calendar.
I like this. At first it tasted like berries and wood but it’s mellowed out a bit and I can really taste the apple now. It basically tastes like liquid apple pie to me.
On a side note, for some reason there are two entires for this tea on steepster. The other is at http://steepster.com/teas/davidstea/26305-sleigh-ride
#10. I wasn’t expecting much but it’s actually quite good. I was a little concerned when it said it was a green tea but wanted to be steeped at 208F, I was expecting that to get bitter. The juniper berry smell also put me off but it’s growing on me now.
- of 24. I wasn’t a big fan of this. I like spicy stuff but I guess not a cinnamon fan. I was getting more of a clove or anise kind of flavor. Maybe it was related to the cold I had. I’ll give this one another shot some other day.
Tea #8. It tasted exactly how I expected. Which for a breakfast black tea in the morning, it was just what I needed.
#7. Not a fan. This tea smelled good while steeping but I did not get a good flavor in the end. It didn’t taste like creme brule to me, it tasted like green leaves.
#6. This didn’t really do anything for me. It tasted like a sweet black tea so it still made for an enjoyable cup of tea but did not wow me.
Tea #5 of 24. I’m not enjoying this as much as I though I would. The smell while brewing was great but for me the taste just doesn’t stand up to the smell. Maybe I’m just not an Earl Grey fan. It’s drinkable but I wouldn’t go back for more.
Tea #4 of 24. Great smell and taste. I found it had a good caramel taste without being too strong or weak. I’ve had some compliments at work today on the aroma coming from my mug.
Tea #3 of 24. I didn’t know what to expect for my first Rooibos but I was happy that it tasted like the Chai that I hoped for. This was a nice evening warmup tea since it has no caffiene and the snow was blowing outside. I think it would be great to drink when stuck at home with a cold. Only downside I found was there wasn’t much left for a second brewing.
I have to upgrade my rating a bit. I’ve come to enjoy this tea with 1 milk, 1 sugar when I’m on the road or otherwise unable to make tea at home. My big issue now is there is a lot of variation between locations but then that’s not really the tea’s fault.
Not for me. I like a good peat smoke scotch so I was thinking I’d like this tea but no go. Very strong smoked smell that is hard to get past. The actual tea tasted ok but I can’t get past the smell to enjoy it.
24 days of tea #2. Overall I like this tea but I expected more of a chocolate taste but I like the raspberry kind of sweetness. I’ve figured out what the “rocket” part of the name is about, wow this tea has some stimulant hit. I got all my housework done after two cups of this :D.
This is tea #1 in my 24 days of tea advent calendar. I’m normally a black tea drinker so I looked forward to this one. I wasn’t disappointed. It smells great and tastes good. It’s a little sweet for me but I like that it is low caffeine which will make it a good evening tea.
