I also haven’t been receiving any email notifications from Steepster for a couple years. This includes notifications of replies to discussion threads I’m subscribed to, comments on my tasting notes, new followers, and new private messages. I’ve checked my spam folder and they aren’t there either.

I get anywhere from 2-6 email notifications about updates to threads depending on which thread it is lol

I’m also now getting emails! I hope this works across the board.

Thanks to whoever bumped this thread…somehow I missed it 11 months ago.

I didn’t see it on the survey but are there any plans to make the website mobile friendly? Many of us browse on our phones and navigating the site on mobile is far from ideal. I would be more active if I didn’t need to be on a laptop to use Steepster.

It was me. And sincerely, I lost all hope. I don’t suppose anything is going to change here.

There is a little change when adding new tea. There is “compressed” form in Available in: list. Or at least I haven’t noticed before!

I hadn’t noticed that before either, Martin! I wonder how long it’s been there.

It’s new, but it was probably added by a moderator, not Adagio staff.

Yeah, that was me.

I didn’t realize mods had the ability to add categories! Derk, do you mind sending me a message walking me through how you did it? There are several categories I think are missing that I’d like to add – ex. Heicha, Purple Tea and also formats like Powder, RTD, etc.

It’s just a type of tea tag you can add, same as flavors and ingredients.

Nvm Derk – Cameron walked me through it! :) Just for my own understanding, was the thought process behind adding “Spice” as a type that it would be used for single straight spices (ex. Pure Cinnamon)? I was a bit confused what the difference between it and Chai might be, but thinking about it I guess Chai infers more of a blend verse singular ingredient.

FYI this has become a large convo if anyone wants to weigh in:

Thanks for starting the new thread Roswell, and everybody else for their considerate input. Since some additions of mine (perhaps not made during the clearest of mind) were catalyst for discussion, I will add my reasoning soon enough. Right now, I’m exhausted from illness and returning to work. Take care everybody and keep the perspectives coming in the other thread.

Let’s celebrate the results of the poll with a minute of silence. It’s so nice that they resulted in absolutely nothing.

Does Adagio even have a plan for this site? There haven’t been any meaningful updates in a decade and the site is becoming stagnant as the number of users declines.

I don’t mind the close-knit community of users, though it would be nice to get some new ones. I’m more worried about Adagio giving up on us altogether. Other than TeaForum, this is the only place I know where people can talk about tea without focusing mainly on pictures.

r/tea on Reddit is another good forum for tea although not as close knit as Steepster.

I miss how lively Steepster discussions were back in the day. Wish there was more tea talk happening outside of comments on tasting notes.

Their Discord is pretty solid as well. But definitely it works a bit differently.

A Steepster Discord or Slack channel for this site would be nice. Could make it easier to stay in touch with less active users.

Every time life distracts me for a while and I think to come back here and write a tasting note I worry that it will have been shut down. :(
I tried joining a discord, but the chats were too divided among types of teas. It felt fragmented. I really like the tasting notes features Steepster has. It has helped me a ton in learning the optimal way to steep new teas and to decide on if I should buy a particular tea.

Yes, r/tea has some good discussion sometimes. I also miss the tea-related discussion here on Steepster, as well as some users who have left the community.

One good thing about the Steepster stalls – I used to never check the Explore feature. I didn’t know how it worked until the first big Steepster stall. Now I go there instead of my dashboard so I can see the new people who are joining and leave a comment, hopefully encouraging them to stay so we get a spark of life here. Silver lining to every cloud?

To think, all these years and I hardly even noticed the “Explore” feature. The real time site updates are pretty nice. Feels like they added a new feature, haha.

Thanks ashmanra!
