drank Forever Nuts by DAVIDsTEA
2707 tasting notes

This is a tea I do not understand. Everyone seems to love it, but every time I get it in a sampler, I’m always so bored by it. It smells nice when brewing, but the flavor is so weak, even though I use way less water than usual and steep for longer. Without sugar, it tastes like nothing. With sugar, it tastes…I guess lightly nutty? I’ve given it several tries, so I’m giving up!

drank Toasted Almond Cookie by Par Avion

This is one from my swap with Mastress Alita. I’ll never pass up an almond tea! Without additions, it tasted pretty plain, but with milk and sugar, it’s quite tasty! I really can see the cookie qualities! The almond is very faint, but the combination of ingredients is like a tasty bready pastry.

drank S'more Chocolate! by Pretty Tea
2707 tasting notes

Got this one in my mystery box. It’s nice that they give such large servings in the box, but I ended up giving almost all of this to my dad since it just wasn’t my thing. It tastes like mostly nothing. You can add extra marshmallows and a ton of leaf to coax some flavor out, but it’s very bland. Like drinking steeped breakfast cereal or something. My dad says it tastes mildly like chocolate but also a lot like nothing.

Hmm this tea reminds me a lot of one I tried in a swap a few months ago called something like empress white. This is a fruity flavor I enjoy, but I wouldn’t call it pear necessarily. I think DavidsTea has the best pear tea I’ve tried. This one is light and free from bitterness. It’s tasty, but I’m glad I only ordered the sample size! It’s not this tea’s fault, though. I just prefer a bolder flavor than most white teas can give.

Almond is my favorite tea flavor, so I had to include this one in my cart. It tastes like all the other almond black teas I’ve sampled, which is great! The flavor is like marzipan, but not in an over the top way, like with some teas. There’s a tiny bit of bitterness, but that’s probably my fault. I’ll be more careful on my next cup.

Red velvet is such a delicious flavor that seems to be difficult for companies to capture in a tea. Unfortunately, this is the case with this one. The flavor is primarily rooibos with maybe a bit of chocolate and a little berry at the end of the sip. I added milk and sugar to try to make it more cakey. It tastes good, but I wouldn’t be able to take a sip and guess that it’s supposed to be red velvet. I’d say go with the Stash red velvet tea instead if you’re looking for something slightly more accurate.

Thanks to Mastress Alita for giving me the chance to try this blend! The primary flavor tastes like steamed carrots, and in some sips there’s a touch of spice. It’s nice, if a bit weak. I’d prefer more spices in there. I think my problem may be that Simpson & Vail’s carrot cake cupcake tea is so so good that other carrot cake blends taste boring in comparison. So if you’re ordering from Bird & Blend anyway, this wouldn’t be a bad one to throw in your cart, but it’s also not the best carrot cake tea out there.

drank Butterscotch by Adagio Teas
2707 tasting notes

This is a tasty dessert tea with milk and sugar added. The butterscotch comes through clearly without being overpowering. I’m enjoying it more than I’ve enjoyed most of Adagio’s flavored black teas.

I was craving a butterscotch tea today… even went looking for butterscotch chips to add… but nope, none around. :D

It’s the right season for it, for sure! I have two different ones that I’ll definitely be enjoying over the holidays.

drank Maple Creme Oolong by Adagio Teas

So apparently you only have six months after your order is received to leave Adagio reviews, and I need my points, so I’ll be sampling all my remaining Adagio in the next three days. I don’t really like this one. The combination of spices make it taste smoky and strange. It has the sweetness of maple, but the flavor is wrong. Maybe someone who likes a light chai would enjoy this. It’s not undrinkable, but I won’t be having a second cup. I love maple teas, so I’m sad to have to give this a low rating!

Good to know… if I ever order from Adagio. I’ve been meaning to for ages.

AJRimmer

Apparently instead of counting to the day, they round down to the month, so I’ve actually lost $2 worth of points for like the third time since I never remember to keep up with it until it’s too late. Oh well! I’ll remember next time!

This one tastes really similar to DavidsTea lemon pound cake, which I love. It needs a bit of sugar in order to taste like anything, but the sugar really brings out the lemon and creamy flavors. This is a seasonal tea, and if I drank more caffeinated tea, I would totally get more next summer.

Bio

I’m an event planner who always has multiple mugs of tea beside me. Hobbies other than tea include board games, video games, cooking international dishes, science fiction, hiking, jigsaw puzzles, tap dancing, reading, listening to podcasts, and playing with my troublesome kitties.

Favorite flavors: dessert flavors, nutty, melon, mint, strawberry, anything rooibos-related.

Don’t prefer: Smoky, rosemary, savory flavors, floral (other than lavender), plain tea.

I always drink flavored tea, and preferably caffeine-free or black. I’ll try just about anything though! Let me know if you’re interested in a swap!

My ratings are kind of meaningless, but basically
90-100 pretty perfect
80-89 really good
70-79 good, but not the best
60-69 okay, but probably not for me
1-59 varying degrees of dislike
