drank Lavender Swirl by DAVIDsTEA
50 tasting notes

I tried this tea because I was looking to try lavender buttercream and they did not have any in store, so they recommended this tea.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. It has a nice and light sweet taste, smells amazing and taste very refreshing and natural. I add in natural because the sweetness taste like it comes from the apple or other ingredients rather than just straight sugar or artificial sugar.

I can easily drink two cups of this in a sitting without getting tired of the flavor or feeling overwhelmed by this. I am excited to try this as a latte after reading some of the other reviews and notes about it. I am not a huge latte drinker but I do enjoy them as a treat sometimes.

I love lavender teas, but I haven’t tried any from DavidsTEA because they never seem to go on sale! One day!

Blackberry leaves might be the natural sweetness you’re experiencing.

drank Zestfully Green by DAVIDsTEA

I have always enjoyed green teas, and I have been trying different Matchas recently, so I was excited for this tea. Then I read through some of the ingredients and was a little worried because I am not a huge fan of ginger, and that is one of the core ingredients. I enjoyed the first few sips, then the ginger really hit me and it was overall just too strong for me. It had such a natural and green tea taste, a little bit of a matcha taste and well the ginger. I didn’t hate it I just don’t see it as something I would be enjoying too often.

I was having a “tea shopping day” for my birthday in downtown Manhattan. I had been wanting to stop by this shop for a while not just because of the interesting variety of tea blends, but because I enjoying cooking and can always use more spices.

This was the first one I picked for two reasons, I have recently become a fan of mate tea, I love chocolate and mint, and there is no added sugars or artificial flavors.
The smell alone is amazing. I let it steep for just over 5 minutes, because I prefer a stronger tea.
I was hooked after the first sip! The chocolate taste so real, not like an artificial chocolate or a milk chocolate, but a real chocolate. The mint flavor is definitely stronger than the chocolate (which is good because I can drink it without feeling too guilty about starting my day with a dessert flavored tea) but the chocolate is there in every sip.

Compared to other mate teas I have had, I can taste the mate natural flavor, but more as a complementing flavor, not an overwhelming flavor, and I do prefer this if I am having a flavored blend, if I wanted chocolate and mint without the tea flavor in there, I would have a cookie or piece of mint chocolate.

There is no bitterness, or overwhelming sweetness, making it easy to drink and enjoy.

The only reason I didn’t give this tea any higher is that there is caffeine, so I cannot enjoy as a late night treat or brewed into an ice cream (unless I eat the ice cream for lunch which I am not above doing).

I bought two more teas from them and cannot wait to try them, I will probably be doing that tonight because this tea was just so great.

drank Creme Caramel Rooibos by DAVIDsTEA
50 tasting notes

Once brewed, this tea smells wonderful, very similar to a light caramel candy. I was not disappointed with the taste, but I do wish I could taste a little more of the caramel,
I really enjoyed the smoothness and the slight butter flavor I got as well.
Rooibos teas do tend to have a distinct taste and I could taste that a little more than I would like, similar to if it was overpowering the caramel taste a little.
I will be enjoying this tea for a while because while it is sweet, it is not so sweet I feel I cannot enjoy it.

drank Gingerbread by DAVIDsTEA

Gingerbread is one of my favorite types of cookies, so I was excited for this tea. It smelled of the spices you get in a gingerbread cookie but not as sugary.
I can’t figure out if this taste like gingerbread or not. I can taste the spices, and it is not bitter but I do get that rooibos taste and that’s not a bad thing … but it is not really gingerbread.
That being said I really enjoyed it, but did not taste anything super unique about it. It is a nice blend, with good gingerbread type flavors just not as sugary and not as strong.

I tried this tea without reading anything about it except that it was a green tea. I could smell the coconut right away.
It reminded me of a tropical cocktail with light exotic flavors. I think the coconut was just too strong for my liking and to make this a tea I would enjoy very often. I still think it as a nice combination of flavors, and is very well balanced.

This was the first time I tried a really floral rose tea. The smell was a little overwhelming and strong for me with all the rose. The first few sips I couldn’t really decide what I thought, I could taste the rose and some honey and some other floral taste that I wasn’t familiar with.
Overall, I think I came to the conclusion that I enjoyed my cup, I wouldn’t be heartbroken if I never had a cup, but… I will probably keep some in the house because it is nice for before bed and something rather different than most of the teas I drink.

I do not know why I did not try this tea sooner, I got it a little over a month ago when I was back home in England.
I have always loved peppermint tea, and I have recently started trying Oolong teas. I very much enjoyed this blend, it has a lighter, softer and creamier than any peppermint tea I’ve had and while some may prefer that stronger peppermint flavor, I really enjoy the fullness yet lighter flavor this brings.

I think I almost like an oolong base for mint tea more than a green tea base. I am yet to try a milk oolong tea, so I will be excited to see how it compares with the creaminess that this tea has as well as that nice subtle flavor just without mint.

drank Caramel Brownie by T2
50 tasting notes

I was a little overwhelmed going into the T2 store for the first time, there was a lot of teas in a lot of boxes on all the walls, it looks great but just something to get used to.
I picked out this tea as well as a few other last month and I’ve tried it a couple of times. You can taste the black tea rather strongly, and has a nice chocolate, sugary undertone that I have become fond of.
My problem is that I cannot seem to always get the little caramel/toffee cubes when I take some out. I gently shake the tin, but I just think it could use more of them.

It is more of a flavored black tea than what I would consider a dessert tea. It is sweet but not a crazy amount and it still has that strong black tea flavor.

I should also note that the small 100g bags at T2 are not resealable so I ended up buying a tin for the tea, but I suppose you can always keep it in a plastic bag, and keep the plastic bag in the paper box that has the label on it.

drank Hot Apple Spice by Harney & Sons
50 tasting notes

I picked this up the last time I was in store because I had never really tried an apple spice blend before and it smelled wonderful.
I tried it as just a normal hot tea and was not let down. It had a very warm apple cider feel, but with more spices and a stronger flavor.
I had a thought while sipping my second cup that this tea may make a wonderful ice cream!
So last night I set off on a culinary of making a no churn tea infused ice cream. That I then got to enjoy tonight (and surprise my boyfriend with some topped with homemade apple pie filling). The ice cream came out wonderful, creamy and had that same flavor I was looking for! Tasted up like the tea, and I only used 2 teaspoons worth of tea for the whole thing. While it was a little work to make it was worth it and something I now want to do with many of my other teas.
