1758 Tasting Notes
I am at a total loss as to how to describe this tea. It’s not bitter. To be honest I made it much like I would make coffee with sugar and milk. The flavor of the tea seemed improved. Although I tried it straight first I don’t know how to describe it, maybe a spicy note. This is definitely the most unusual “tea” I have ever drank. It is made from the pulp around the coffee bean and I think roasted. I’m not going to give it a number because I don’t know what to compare it to. I prepared it as to the directions on the package. Three tsp leaf per cup of liquid. I am actually enjoying this.
I brewed this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity steeper with 6 tsp leaf and 200 degree water for 5 min.
Preparation
This review is based on one steep western style. It is a nice sweet tasting, somewhat earthy ripe puerh. It is from 2008 so it has cleared somewhat. I might even go as far as to describe the sweet note as a dates note. It is pretty tasty. I should add that Tea Trekker sells some good tea.
I brewed this one time in a Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 200 degree water for 30 seconds after a 10 second rinse.

I decided to review something related to tea today, Honey, crafted specifically for tea by the Savannah Bee Company. They concept it you are supposed to still taste your tea when sweetened with this honey. The honey should not take over the tea. I used one large spoonful of this honey in Whispering Pines Cocoa Amore. It provided an almost invisable sweetness using one spoonful. The flavors of the tea, malt, chocolate, and cherry were still present. I know some honeys I have would have overpowered this tea and all I would taste is the honey. This is good stuff. It rates quite high when compared to other honeys. Savannah Bee Company was running a sale for 15% off my order. Don’t know if the sale is still on.
Picked this one today because of my insomnia. It is fairly nice. It’s got a nice flavor that I have a hard time describing because I put a spoonful of chili honey into it for a nice spicy kick. Got the honey at the Coffee and Tea Festival NYC last March.
I brewed this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 200 degree water for 3 minutes.
Preparation
I get primarily a vegetal note from this tea. A bit of a umami note developed too. While I think this is good quality tea it just isn’t what I like to drink. But as I only bought an ounce it’s ok.
Steeped this two times in a 400ml Kyusu with 8g leaf and 175 degree water. I steeped it for 1 min and 1.5 min.
Preparation
Not liking this as much as the first time I bought it. It is strong with a note of malt. I might be better with milk.

Strangely enough one of my local Bed, Bath, and Beyond stores has a relatively good tea section when compared to the average American supermarket. This was part of a twelve pack with three different types of flowering teas. The orange and honey flavors are on the mild side with the taste of the green tea still somewhat evident. I wasn’t paying attention to the time but I’m guessing I steeped this for about 4 minutes.

I am finding Ahmad Teas to be among the best I have gotten at an Indian or Asian Market. While they are not up to the quality of what I get online, or even at my local tea store, they are not bad. This one is strong, making me think of adding milk. It has a note that I would describe as loosely citrus and it seems to be often found in Ceylon teas in general. It is also brisk like a Ceylon tea. Some bitterness steeped into this one. I think it would be better at a lower temperature.

Absolutely! I love Ahmad! They might not be the very best, like you said, but they are really good considering how much they cost. I like a couple of their Assams, the gunpowder green, and the Earl Grey green..all around the same price at Turkish markets, from what I have seen.
Yeah I got these at my local Indian market. They have tea that is a grade above average supermarket tea but a grade below what you get on the internet.
It’s been a while since I finished what I bought from him last time. But I bought a little more in my last order. This tea has strong notes of malt and strong notes of chocolate. It is quite good and actually if I remember right one of Whispering Pines less expensive teas although still not cheap.
I brewed this once in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 200 degree water for 3 min.
