Second try. First time I failed it by using too hot of water. This time I used a perfect temp and steamed milk.
It’s gonna take some getting used to. It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just VERY different than anything I have ever had. I didn’t even like puerh at first and I enjoy this more.
So, I’m not going to rate this because I know I will like it eventually.

I’m just going to say that I could not imagine the difference sifting matcha makes. It actually tastes like cheesecake, not just sweet matcha. This is a wonderful revelation. lol

Upping the rating on this one. I love it to much. . . also it contributed to a nice tea drunk today that inspired a FULL duet of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ featuring myself and a coworker in the middle of the day. That alone gives it a few extra points. :)

I’ve almost finished this one now, which makes me sad because it was love at first sip. I’m gonna miss this one. I need to do a serious butiki sipdown before another order.

This is good, this is very good. I have no idea of the flavouring level or grade though since I didn’t actually order this one. I’m assuming it’s delicate though, since I get more matcha than anything. I am happy to have made it’s acquaintance. :) Thank You Red Leaf!

I have only had one straight matcha before and I couldn’t even finish the cup. I don’t know whether this is just a higher quality one or if my taste buds have just evolved. I should add that this wasn’t even one I had ordered, my order must’ve been mixed with another as I received 4 teas I would have never thought twice about before. And being the amazingly wonderful company that they are, Red Leaf has allowed me to keep these to tide me over until my order arrives!
Back to the tea. . .
When I whisked it up it came out a rich dark green, like the colour of peas! It tastes buttery and vegetal and just heavenly, not like the bitter seaweed I remember from the other company. Very happy this tea found me.

Mmmmmm. . . Good morning Steepster! My daughter is still sleeping and I have the day off. Nice cup of Irish Breakfast Tea, some toast and jam and now I’m watching the cult classic “Heathers.” Should be a great day. Especially once I talk myself out of covering someone’s shift at work! lol.
I definitely need a new steeper though, this tastes a bit like the puerh I had yesterday.
This is currently my favourite breakast tea. Feeling cozy at the moment! :)

I have yet to decide whether or not I like guayusa. I received this as a sample this summer and I just finally got to it now. It was very smooth, creamy and sweet. I have found all guayusas I have tried to taste slightly watermelon-y which was also true for this one. It is the only this I did not enjoy about this tea.
I’m grateful for the sample, though it is unlikely this will make it on to my next order.

This was my impulsive black Friday purchase. I couldn’t turn it down, it was an incredible deal and it was the perfect opportunity to delve right in.
I went with the royal grade matcha with “There’s matcha in there?” flavour level.
I purchased a matcha kit just for this. I boiled the water and THEN, only then did I bother reading that you shouldn’t use boiling water. . . Then came the task of waiting for the water to cool. Finally we got there. I added 1 tsp of matcha powder to my bowl and 6oz. of water. Then I got to use my super cool bamboo whisk! It frothed up pretty quick and I added some milk I steamed in the microwave.
I had no idea what to expect for flavour, all the reviews are so different, some say it’s bitter, some say smooth. I expected it to be tangy, that normal tang that cheesecake has. It didn’t have it, it was perfectly rich and smooth and tasted real. The matcha buzz lasted me well into the work day, which I was VERY grateful for. I look forward to all my future red leaf purchases and I plan to make this one a staple in my tea collection.
I should add that the shipping was insane! I ordered Friday, they shipped FRIDAY and I received it the following Thursday and I’m in Canada! I think I’ll get the tin next time!
