I made this tea in a saucepan (1 Vanilla chai teabag, 2 Rituals Orange Pekoe and Pekoe Cut Black teabags) for some ladies I’ve been living with in Alaska during a little naan and curry-making time we had the day before yesterday (this is totally a backlog). I added a good amount of milk to make sure the spice was watered down enough to be able to enjoy. The taste was smooth and sweet, even without sugar. I prefer preparing my own spice tea, but this is such a good dessert tea. I <3 it.

This tea gives me heartburn when I drink it without milk or honey/sugar — and for good reason. I’m a desi tea purist, and desi teas need at least milk.

I actually made this on the stove in a saucepan with two Rituals Orange Pekoe and Pekoe Cut Black teabags for a few absolutely wonderful ladies who are also stuck in the hospital here in Anchorage. I intentionally watered it down a bit with milk and let them sweeten it themselves, and it was amazing, especially with our homemade naan and curries. I like how versatile this tea is — and I want to make tea cupcakes with it. Once I get out of Alaska, that’s going to be my first baking project.

I drink this tea nightly nowadays. It’s super awesome. And free. And I’m going to take a few with me. It works with anything else you want to put with it. It’s a nice medium-depth black tea. I just want to know where it’s from.

I’ve gotten used to drinking this without milk, but it’s so good with it. I’m running out of tea at the moment due to my travels (I’ll be reunited with one of my tea stashes tomorrow, thankfully), but I have tons of this. Despite the lack of variety, I’m glad I have this tea.

So this tea is actually really good with peanut butter/jam sandwiches on wheat bread. I used my last tea bag today, and that kind of makes me sad. But it was a good cup of tea, so I’m not too unhappy.

St. Elias Specialty Hospital serves this tea alongside Green Mountain coffees in their little Keurig stand. It’s the only tea they have (and they’ve also discontinued serving hot cocoa, which would be wonderful with the 3 ft of snow we already have and the 2+ ft we’re supposed to get). I finally tried it in a clean paper cup, so I’m finally comfortable rating it.

It’s ok. I’m left feeling like I want more, though. I personally think it’s more about the Keurig machine than the leaves, though. The flavor is a bit difficult to put a finger on, and it’s pretty weak for a black breakfast tea. However, I have been a bit under the weather, so maybe it’s more a personal thing than a tea thing.

I’d have this tea again just so I don’t have to have coffee anymore. However, I personally like to bring my own teabag and get hot water from the Keurig machine. If only they also served 2% milk besides half and half….

Providence Alaska Medical Center serves this tea in their cafeteria. I usually don’t like herb tea, since I like my black tea base (and adding milk to tea, which is difficult with some herbals). This really could have done with some black tea, in my opinion. It smells lovely, but the taste is a bit dull and bitter. I could drink this again, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

I have a feeling that a vegetable platter I took some things from was thoroughly contaminated with all sorts of rhinoviruses, and so I’ve been having some pretty lame cold symptoms today. This tea + touch of milk + 1 hour nap = so nice. Even finishing the tea after the 1 hour nap with the tea bag in there the whole time was good. It’s not full-on in-your-face peppermint, but it’s still super therapeutic. I love spearmint so much.

I got this tea at the local International store in Pullman, Washington. It’s an awesome store with all sorts of random things. Hermetically sealed duck eggs? Sure. Stinky fermented tofu? Yeah. Random teas that are poorly labeled? Always. This is the third on the list — it’s an import from China, and… that’s all I know. The taste is a nice and smooth. It’s a bit brothy, and produces an orange-brown liqour. It’s one of the only oolongs I’ve had so far, and it’s only $2 for 100 packets. Cheap? Probably. But it’s great for everyday.
