drank Prairie Berry by DAVIDsTEA

This one’s really good! I love the berries in this – far better than Blueberry Jam, which it initially reminded me of. There’s a hint of sweetness in every sip that really makes this tea quite amazing.

This one may need to be kept around.

drank Orange Blossom by DAVIDsTEA

This one smells so good! Hopefully this will be the rooibos for me :)

Yes! Enjoyment. There’s something in this that vaguely makes me think of carbonation. And I’m not too sure on the aftertaste. But things I can get past I’m sure.

As it cools the aftertaste diminishes. Love when things work out.

The more I drink the more it reminds me of a creamsicle. But because it’s hot my taste buds are confused. I may try this one out cold to see what happens.

Now back to the books.

Update: Possibly even better when it’s chilled.

drank Russian Morning N°24 by Kusmi Tea
1443 tasting notes

Another awesome sample from CharlotteZero :)

I love my breakfast teas! Even though it’s 4 in the afternoon haha. This one is no exception. I’m just trying it straight and already love it. Yum. It can only get better with a wee bit of milk and sugar :)

drank Violet by Kusmi Tea

Thank you for this generous sample CharlotteZero!

This is a lovely blend. The violet is not overwhelming. For the two Kusmi teas I’ve tried I’m off to a great start. I may end up placing an order.

drank Luscious Watermelon by DAVIDsTEA

Oh Luscious Watermelon. You are amazing.

I’m having this one iced tonight. But not cold brewed. Just steeped with ice cubes. Switching it up from all the hot tea I’ve been having non-stop for days. Now back to studying.

drank White Peony by DAVIDsTEA
1443 tasting notes

I’ve never had a straight white tea before and I’m enjoying this one. Nothing too special about it from what I can tell. Perhaps once I’ve tried more unflavoured white teas I’ll have more to report. But it’s a nice change from the crazy flavourful “is this dessert in a mug?” teas – which are also delicious, but sometimes you just need it straight.

Update: Great resteeped as well!

Kasumi no Chajin

my favorite white tea (a sliver needle) resteeps about 5 times (at least) very nicely

Courtney

That’s great. I’m on my third re-steep now and I’m still really enjoying it. I’l’ have to update on many steeps I manage :)

drank Korean Sejak by DAVIDsTEA
1443 tasting notes

According to my spreadsheet, this marks my 75th tea from DavidsTea. Hard to believe I’ve got approximately half of them down.

I love the earthy smell of this one, like most unflavoured teas. Almost like a mix between an oolong and genmaicha. Don’t get me wrong – I love to huff some Lime Gelato or Luscious Watermelon haha, but there’s something naturally calming with these straight teas that I love.

Ooh the leaves expand like an oolong. Excellent. Well it’s a bit stronger than an oolong, but of a similar taste, even though technically it’s a green tea. Though unfortunately it’s a bit too bitter for my liking. It’s leaving a bitter taste in the back of me mouth after each sip. Perhaps the water I used was too hot, though I don’t have a thermometer so I can’t really tell. Darn!

drank Red Velvet Cake by DAVIDsTEA
1443 tasting notes

Hello maple. I can smell you there, even if I don’t see you in the ingredients.

Red Velvet Cake is reminding me of Birthday Cake, at least the smell. We shall see momentarily how the taste pans out. Birthday Cake was too much for me. Though in all fairness it could have been the rooibos base, since I have yet to discover a rooibos I enjoy.

I’m enjoying this one! Despite my dislike of chocolate I think this one may be kept around in my cupboard in small doses. The overwhelming sweet smell doesn’t do the tea justice. It’s a nice smooth, cup of tea. Yes sweet, but not sickeningly so.

drank Berry Good (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA
1443 tasting notes

This one looks similar to Bear Trap and smells very berry. Surprise right? This is actually my first ever pu’erh. I’m a little nervous.

Steeping it smells exactly like the Triple Berry flavour of Oatmeal Crisp cereal. That I do like.

Fascinating – I was expecting a deep red/pink colour with all the berries but it’s the colour of coffee. I’m tasting the strawberries, yes. Good start to exploring pu’erhs.

drank Buddha's Blend by DAVIDsTEA
1443 tasting notes

Ah Buddha’s Blend. Highly acclaimed. And finally yesterday my store had some! They had only a wee bit left but I got there just in time :)

It smells faintly like peaches (not real peaches, but not a completely fake scent either). I’ve smelled that before in Three Wishes. I’m guessing perhaps that’s the jasmine? That’s the ingredient they have in common. So perhaps I shouldn’t say I don’t care for floral teas, just not rose ones.

I did a 30 second steep since it’s a white tea and I’ve been getting great results with that trick. I’m enjoying it. Nice and light. Not overwhelming, but not underwhelming.

Profile

Bio

I love black tea and this is usually what’s in my mug. I’m also happy to enjoy a cup of green or red rooibos (green preferable to red), herbals, oolongs (unroasted/green and red preferable to roasted), whites, and subtly flavoured greens (mango or pineapple, yum!).

Likes:
Raspberry, strawberry, peach, rhubarb, passionfruit, blackcurrant, redcurrant, fig, and most fruits in general, maple, creaminess, hay, biscuit, lavender, and cacao/dark chocolate.

I enjoy bergamot when paired with flavours that mellow it (Camellia Sinensis Earl Grey Cream is one of my favourites).

Dislikes:
Any smokiness at all, stevia, too much blackberry leaf, rose, jasmine, ginger (except in chai), cinnamon-heavy teas, anything cloying or fake/candy-like.

I’m vegan with an allergy to potatoes, so I avoid any animal products in tea, along with sprinkles as these often have potato starch (I usually just pick them out of blends).
