1711 Tasting Notes
With fall setting in, I’m super into all things pumpkin. I saw this tin in my cupboard and a craving washed over me. I may have over steeped it a touch, but what I got was an underwhelming cup. The spices are a little warming, I’ll give it that. Other than that it just seems lacking. I’ve had this in my cupboard for a couple years so I know it’s not in it’s prime, but I don’t recall ever being impressed with it. I need to get over it and call it a fail in my journey of pumpkin exploration.
My first cup of this I did more of a latte style with honey, but because the creamer was cold the whole cup was only warm, not hot like I wanted first thing in the morning. I went much lighter on the second steep with the cream, but then left the house for an hour, came back to a cold cup, microwaved it and it’s just not quite the same. My first cup tasted good. Nice rich spices and flavors that feel warming and fall like. I am pleased that there is actual pumpkin in the mix as I’m a huge fan of pumpkin. I’m on the fence about restocking it.
Hmmmm, interesting. I’m getting more floral notes on the sip and a slight tongue tingling part way through that I’m attributing to the chipotle, but it isn’t the normal sensation I get from heat. I can smell the cherries and taste some raspberry. I usually really like spicy teas, but this one confuses me a little. Most of the other chili teas I have had have been on a green base, but this one is black. Maybe that is what is throwing me off? Either way, it is still a fun and interesting tea to try!
Happy sipdown turned sad sipdown when I went to see about getting a different flavor of this chocolate tea and discovered that the company appears to no longer be in existence. I bought this tin several years ago on a whim and have reached for it many nights since. With a little creamer this has been a fantastic rich evening drink. The coconut added to the creaminess and the cinnamon added warmth without standing out on it’s own or overpowering the chocolate which takes center stage. It has been such a comforting tea and I’m really sad that I won’t be able to get any more.
I’m not super into floral teas, so when I got this sample with my order I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. A few sips in and I’m pleasantly surprised! It has a bit of the floral rose notes, but has a sweet earthiness behind it. The finish is long and goes from a puerh like hint and then transitions into rose which lingers a while and has a slight fresh rose petal quality to it. Adding cream brings out a malty flavor with cocoa and the rose takes a back seat. This is a really interesting tea that I wouldn’t mind having a cup of every so often!
Preparation
This is a tea that has been in my cupboard for YEARS! My husband bought this tin and I’m pretty sure that was prior to us meeting, so I’d give it at least 11 years. No telling how long he had it before. With the massive amount of tea that I own I think he forgot that he bought it and I often overlook it because it’s not a tea I picked out.
I added a little creamer to my cup and I’m getting some really nice smooth flavor. It’s a little earthy in the finish, like puerh, but has a sweetness on the sip. It’s almost like puerh lite. It’s a little nutty and I think I get some of the cocoa hints that others have mentioned. It’s a solid tea that I’ll have to pay more attention to!
Preparation
I love this tea! I ordered some earlier in the year, but felt like the flavors needed some time to age and settle. Well that has happened and I’m gleefully sipping on a delicious cup with some soy creamer! I love the rich smokey banana flavors so much. Such a good blend.
Preparation
God, I’m loving on this tea! I got my AQ2T order in a few days ago and have had multiple cups of this each day. I can’t stay away, it’s perfect. Great depth to the taste, a bit of smoke and a little hint of fruit. I ordered a bunch, but with the way I’m attacking it, it might not last long!
