448 Tasting Notes
Even though I seem to have tasting problems, I was really interested in this and wanted something to keep me company at work. I was really concerned at first. This smelt like grapefruit while it was steeping. I really DO NOT like grapefruit. I got another tea from here as a sample and it had grapefruit in it. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was definitely gross to me. Luckily, this looses the grapefruit smell after steeping.
I tried to make this iced, but ran out of time before work, so now it’s a kinda weird lukewarm thing. I feel like I can taste more with this than I have been with the other teas. It tastes and smells like the orange sherbet ice cream that my dad would always get me. Hopefully I can taste more when I get back to normal.
Hmm, I think something is going on with my mouth. I tried four different teas yesterday and they were all weak and meh. Then I tried this today, and it was meh. I do have these weird little bumps in one spot on the roof of my mouth, that I just noticed today. Maybe I somehow burned myself really bad or something. I hope it’s just my taster that’s not working, because I really want these teas to taste good!
As far as I can tell, I couldn’t really taste much chocolate or peppermint with this. I’ll definitely give it another try later.
In the bag, this smells like Starburst to me. I was really excited for that taste. I drank this yesterday, so my memory isn’t completely accurate but I just remember a sort of general sweet taste, and nothing spectacular. I’ll wait until I can give a proper reveiw to rate it though.
I got a big box of teas in from greatlin yesterday! Thanks so much! After my successful go with the mandarin silk oolong the day before, I was craving even more oolong. I knew that this was one that she was sending, so I hunted through the box for it. Unfortunately, I can’t remember how it smelled dry, but after steeping it was like wonderful banana heaven. I was expecting this to have the fake banana flavor, but it tastes like actual bananas. The creamy banana goodness and the oolong go together so perfectly! Definitely getting more of this!
This smells really sweet, like bubblegum, when dry. It gets a bit more minty once it’s steeped. Unfortunately, it just tasted like a weak peppermint tea. I think I’m much happier just putting my own peppermint in, so I can get it as strong or weak as I like.
Don’t let my low rating scare you off though. I like really minty teas, but if you like yours a bit more subtle, you might like this. I have some left if anybody would like to give it a try.
Preparation
Another that I had yesterday.
Before this, I had tried only one other oolong. It was overly perfume-y and not something I was very fond off. When I found out this was oolong, I was disappointed at first. I’m so glad that I bothered to try it though! This teas smells absolutely wonderful. It has a creamy, oolongy smell and tastes just the same. The vanilla flavor blends really well with the oolong taste. I will definitely be stocking up on this one!
It really is! I only have enough for a cup left and I’m planning on giving it to my mom, otherwise I would send you some. I really recommend it
I drank this yesterday and haven’t had time to log it since school is currently kicking my butt.
I haven’t had any other chocolate mint teas to compare this too, but I think this one is great! Neither of the flavors drowned the other out. The chocolate and the mint blended together very nicely.
Yes, good luck with school stuff. Mine keeps piling up, and I should really be doing stats right now but urrrrgh don’t wanna…
I’m so happy this was a tea that was chosen to be rescued! Thanks RachanaC and I look forward to more wonderful rescue teas :)
When I first opened this, I was immediately struck by the strong smell of blueberries. But under that, the more you smell it, the more this other scent comes out. It smells like some delicious bread dessert baking in the oven. Hopefully that taste comes through in the tea and this isn’t just a blueberry tea!
I seem to have trouble getting the temperature and time right with 52Teas’ black teas. Everyone else seemed to like about boiling and 4 minutes, so I went with that. After adding the water, the blueberry smell isn’t as strong and that baking smell comes out more. At the beginning of the sip, it’s blueberry. But then, somewhere near the end of the sip, the cream cheese danish flavor comes in. It feels like you’re actually eating a danish. It’s just the perfect amount, neither of the flavors overwhelming the other, though I do wish they blended together a little more. I honestly can’t complain though. Adding milk seemed to make the blueberry flavor a lot weaker, and the danish flavor a lot stronger. How do you even manage to make tea taste like this? I’m assuming 52teas employs a wizard until proven otherwise.
Preparation
The sprinkles in this are cute! It has a really weak sweet smell though. I was hoping the flavor would not match the smell. At three minutes, I could taste the tea (and it was good) but I could not taste any of the other flavors at all. As it cooled, I could taste a bit more creaminess but not much. I definitely don’t get any cakeiness from it. I’ll try it a bit longer next time and see if I can find any of the flavors.
Preparation
I’m really not very experienced at all with green teas yet, so I don’t really know what I’m talking about.
This is another tea I bought in San Angelo. While it was steeping, it seemed to have lots of bits of what I would guess are stems floating in it. This did smell really good however. Like just cut grass that would somehow taste really good. And yet, the taste was not so great. I have no clue if it’s the tea or my own fault, but it’s probably some weird combination of both. It manages to taste both weak and very bitter. I feel like I’m drinking water mostly, and what little flavor I get is all bitter bitter bitter. I will have to give this a few more tries some other time.
Oh…. yeah, Midsummer Night’s Dream is definitely grapefruity for me. I think I had similar thoughts about Pink Flamingo too. I like grapefruit though.
I’m not getting the grapefruit in the flavor at all, which makes me happy. It’s pretty much vanilla orange ish for me. Do the gooseberries taste/smell like grapefruit maybe?
I’m honestly not sure! I’m glad it doesn’t taste like grapefruit for you though. I actually liked it because it did for me! But I haven’t had it in ages. Drank down my sample and haven’t picked up more yet.
