drank Chocolate Chai by Adagio Teas

I would prefer a little more chocolate in my Chocolate Chai, but since I keep a tin of regular black “Chocolate Chip” tea handy, I can easily adjust this on my next go-round. That aside is a lovely chai flavor. I am really enjoying my first mug of it. I’m currently on the search for my personal best, go-to chai, and I wouldn’t say this is “it.” At least not until I try quite a few more. :-) But it’s in the running.

drank Vanilla Oolong by Adagio Teas

I am having another go at this Vanilla Oolong this morning, this time accented with about 1 tsp leftover Vanilla Chai that I was trying to use up. The combination seemed promising (or at least not revolting), so I’m going with it. I just need to be really careful with the added sweetener on these flavored oolongs. They are such a light, subtle flavor already, that it’s really easy to over-sweeten them and make them grossly cloying.

In fact, this oolong might be too light and subtle to combine with a chai, as really all I’m tasting is chai. It’s still a lovely, pleasant drink, but I"ll remember in the future to drink this one straight or, if I have to, combined with other similarly light, flavored oolongs. I do love to combine my tea flavors, but in this case, constraint is called for.

drank Chocolate Chip by Adagio Teas

Enjoying a little Chocolate Chip this morning, combined (I almost always take this tea with another one…I like my chocolate flavoring with something else, not so much by itself) with the last of my Coconut Macaroon. It’s really nice, and I can get away with using less sweetener, because chocolate is one of those flavors that I like just fine on the un-sweet side. Yes, I have been known to drizzle plain, unsweetened “bakers” chocolate on top of homemade energy bars, trusting the raisins in the bar to carry enough sweetness. My kids think I’m insane.

I just have to say, this is a tea I’m keeping as a pantry staple. I never drink it alone (chocolate flavored tea by itself just seems boring), but it combines SO WELL with other flavors. I like it with all manner of chais, with this coconut tea, with my Irish Breakfast, even with some herbals like Peppermint. I can’t imagine not having it on hand.

drank Hugs and Kisses by Adagio Teas

I usually wouldn’t order a whole tin of any tea without sampling it first, but I bought this one on a whim because the description sounded pretty great. Rooibos, caramel, vanilla? Yes please? In point of fact, it’s so overpoweringly full of “honey” scent and flavor that I really struggle to pick up any other note at all. But after my third or fourth steeping, it’s growing on me. A very smooth, comforting tea, nice in the evening.

drank Almond Oolong by Adagio Teas

Guys, I gotta level, I simply adore this tea. I love the smooth, marzipan flavor. I love that it lacks any harsh, bitter notes. I love it even when I’ve accidentally over-sweetened it (like today). I need to remember that this one requires much less truvia than my flavored blacks…in fact, any sweetener at all is almost too much, because this is so mild and lovely on its own.

drank Chestnut by Adagio Teas

Really busy stressful day planned, so I felt like coming back to a comforting old friend. Brewed up 1 tsp of this one mixed with 1 tsp of “Caramel,” a combination I’ve tried and loved before. It’s a warm, nutty, maple sugary treat, so indulgent and rich. Really I can hardly make myself wait for it to cool a tad and keep burning my tongue on it! Threw in a pinch of truvia as usual – I do like my teas a bit on the sweet side.

Still love this tea; having it this morning by itself (I usually prefer to combine it with other teas for funsies), and it’s just great with a little milk and truvia. Like drinking a hot mug of caramel candy. Such an indulgence! I just love this tea. Went ahead and ordered a box for my sister for her birthday later this month.

drank Rooibos Chai by Numi Organic Tea

As far as rooibos teabags go, it’s hard to imagine doing better than this. It has that very same “honey” scent and flavor that seems to be standard for all rooibos, and my mug last night was sweet and soothing, just what I want from an evening tea. I can get better loose leaf from other places, so this won’t be a pantry staple for me, but I enjoyed this just fine.

I am always REALLY careful when steeping this tea, because when done correctly I absolutely love this one. I do add a tiny bit of truvia to it, though. It’s really smooth, not at all bitter, and lightly sweet. VERY fragrant and soothing. Just the thing for a stressful afternoon!

I really like this tea. Had it with a little almond milk and stevia, and the vanilla flavor was very prominent, the oolong extremely mild. I’m digging this one.

I love flavored teas, especially black “dessert-like” teas, or teas I can make dessert-like with the addition of almond milk and truvia. Yes, I’m that girl that never orders her coffee black, and instead gets the double mocha on ice with whipped soy cream and almond shavings. Hey, that’s what I love, and I’m not afraid to embrace it! I’m on the warpath to sample as many new teas as my budget (and husband) will allow, and am pretty much working my way through the entire Adagio catalog at the moment.

I almost always hate chamomile or any blend with chamomile in it, and have detested every single Earl Grey I’ve tried (sorry…I’ve tried quite a few!).

I am lucky to live and work in the fantastic city of Portland, and I’m vegan.
