Trying this tea out again and I can say for certain that I like Verdant’s Dong Ding much better. This will likely be the last cup of thepuriTea Dong Ding that I drink. I’ll let me husband have the rest as he likes it more than I.

I just brewed some of this for my piano tuner. He asked for a black and I’m running low on my black stock (got more on the way though!), so this is what he got. It’s not my favorite, but it’s so popular on Steepster that I hoped he might like it. It’s not so bold as the expected black, so I was a bit worried that he wouldn’t like it, but he does! yay!

When my piano tuner came last month I offered him tea & initially he looked surprised, then asked for something smokey. I handed him a cup of Caravan from A&D, & he loved it. That always feels so good! :)

yeah, I read that in one of your logs. I don’t have anything smokey in my cupboard anymore. It’s all with my father :p

This is the last of my sample, but I’ve already ordered more. I do still need to order more of my other favorite white tea though.

The piano tuner is here and he took my offer for some tea. yay! I love to share tea. He asked for a black tea, so I only brewed this white one for myself.

Yunnan teas aren’t my favorite blacks, but sometimes I am in the mood for one. I’ve had this one for a while, but I hadn’t logged it and couldn’t remember whether or not I liked it. It’s not bad, but I like Arbor Teas’ Golden Yunnan quite a bit better than this one. This tea has a bit of the mushroom thing going on; not as fruity as some.

I do love me a cup of vegetal tea. ♡

I went to the grocery store and got my dogs from the groomer. I came home to see some dude with a clipboard at the door. I expected it to be some door-to-door spammer of sorts (as they often are) and hoped he’d just go away. But no, it was the utilities man. He needed to do something with my water meter and also go under the crawl-space. Well, in an effort to keep our escape-artist dogs contained in the back yard, my husband bolted a board across the back gate which meant that letting the utility guy come and go was a matter of constant attention through a little finished room in the garage. Gee, and all I wanted to do was get something to eat and make some tea (and go to the bathroom) when I got home. At least he’s gone now. And I have my tea. I’m still hungry though. . .

greenteafairy sent this to me in a swap. I haven’t had much luck with peach teas so far, but I hadn’t tried one with a black tea base before, so that was new.

The first impression I got was a generic poorly flavored black tea. I now read that it is blended with authentic peaches and I see that reviewers are commenting on the pleasant natural peach flavor. It just doesn’t taste natural to me and the back base isn’t all that exciting either. Oh well, it was worth trying anyway!

I’ve had really mixed experiences with this tea. Sometimes it comes out more or less as you describe, and sometimes a bit better (i.e., peachier, if only in a gummy-candy way). But I’m with you on the base, definitely.

Went to the gym, dropped off two of my dogs at the groomer, ate breakfast. Productive summer morning! Now I’m sipping the last of this Assam (good thing I’ve already ordered more :p )

I got a sample of this with my last Butiki Order. It’s pretty much exactly as described. smooth and sweet with fruity dessert notes. I’m enjoying my cup as an afternoon thunderstorm passes over. I sure do wish my cocker would stop running around like crazy and barking at random. . .she completely ruins the ambiance. lol. She runs around, checks all the windows, barks a whole lot, checks the windows again, jumps at me, then waits excited at the back sliding door (as if I would ever think of letting her out, I’ve made that mistake before and what a MESS it was!) My three Cavaliers are just lying about setting such a good example.

I haven’t yet restocked Thin Mint from the Tea Spot, so I made my own. I had a little bit of Hojicha left from Dens Tea and a bag of Peppermint from Arbor teas. It came out pretty good. The peppermint is a bit brighter than in the Thin Mint blend since I obviously don’t know the exact proportions, but it doesn’t matter. Mint+Hojicha = yum no matter what.

I have found amazing green and white teas from Verdant, but I haven’t much enjoyed the black tea selection so far. This one is the best I have come across yet, but it’s far from stellar for me. There’s no nasty mushroom and no musky manliness going on in this one. It’s very smooth, almost oolong-like. I can recognize it’s quality and how it would appeal to others, but it’s not the tea for me.

My Rating System

100 My happiness absolutely depends on it

95 Will definitely repurchase

85: Might repurchase (teas that depend on my mood)

75 Won’t repurchase (but I would drink it again if offered).

65: meh

45: I reluctantly finished a cup.

15: Couldn’t finish a cup.

I simplified my ratings to single numbers rather than ranges because I can’t precisely compare so many teas with a system more detailed than this.

An unrated tea is most often one that I recognize as having significant notable quality, but that does not suit me personally. Sometimes, I leave teas unrated for other reasons, such as I am undecided or I brewed it wrong, etc.

Note: Boiling temp. barely reaches 200 where I am (and a few times it sticks at 195, I assume due to unexplainable shifts in altitude or the position of the moon. . .aliens?. . .).
