30 tasting notes

I was rummaging around in my tea cupboard and came across an unopened sample of this. I’m not sure how long it’s been in there, but it’s very possible that it’s been years. Clearly, I need to do some cleaning out of the cupboard.

Anyway, I decided to brew up a cup of this, while not knowing much about it. All I knew about it is that it had chocolate in it, and little candy red lips. I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate teas (probably why this was sitting forgotten in my cupboard), so I didn’t have the highest of hopes for it.

I brewed it up with milk and a little bit of sugar. First thing I noticed was that the brewed cup smelled more like mint than chocolate. As for the taste, I couldn’t really taste the base tea in this. It made me check to see if this was actually an herbal, but no, it’s classified as a black tea. It makes me think more of a slightly minty less sweet hot chocolate. I don’t know if it’s the age of the sample or what, but I found it fairly weak. If I’m going to have a mint chocolate tea, I want the mint to be strong; this felt more like just a hint.

Overall, not super impressed. I’d prefer a mint hot chocolate to this tea if I’m going for that flavor profile, or if I’m going for a chocolate tea, the Chocolate Rocket from Davids Tea.
