I was rummaging around in my tea cupboard and came across an unopened sample of this. I’m not sure how long it’s been in there, but it’s very possible that it’s been years. Clearly, I need to do some cleaning out of the cupboard.

Anyway, I decided to brew up a cup of this, while not knowing much about it. All I knew about it is that it had chocolate in it, and little candy red lips. I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate teas (probably why this was sitting forgotten in my cupboard), so I didn’t have the highest of hopes for it.

I brewed it up with milk and a little bit of sugar. First thing I noticed was that the brewed cup smelled more like mint than chocolate. As for the taste, I couldn’t really taste the base tea in this. It made me check to see if this was actually an herbal, but no, it’s classified as a black tea. It makes me think more of a slightly minty less sweet hot chocolate. I don’t know if it’s the age of the sample or what, but I found it fairly weak. If I’m going to have a mint chocolate tea, I want the mint to be strong; this felt more like just a hint.

Overall, not super impressed. I’d prefer a mint hot chocolate to this tea if I’m going for that flavor profile, or if I’m going for a chocolate tea, the Chocolate Rocket from Davids Tea.

drank Raspberry Mojito by DAVIDsTEA

I drank this tea hot just now, but I’ve primarily used it for iced tea in the past. The mint comes in that cool mouth feel and aftertaste, while the fruity raspberry is what hits you up front. There’s something about these flavors that just screams summer to me, and it makes a great iced tea. While it’s decent hot, I think as an iced tea is where is really shines.

This is another tea that’s in our cupboard because my fiance really likes it. I probably never would have picked it out for myself, because I’m not a huge fan of chocolate and I haven’t had much experience with mates. However, I was pleasantly surprised. With milk, it’s creamy with a bit of a roasted quality to it. The chocolate flavor isn’t overpowering or cloyingly sweet; it reminds me more of a slightly bitter dark chocolate. (which, when I do it eat chocolate, is what I eat).

I think this would be a good tea for converting coffee drinkers. It’s got a richness to it I normally associate with coffee. And of course, the extra caffeine boost from the mate would help.

I love how this one smells. That was what convinced me to buy this tea in the first place, as I felt that if it smelled half as good as it tasted, it would be a good tea. And it is! There’s actual little blueberries in with the tea leaves, which I liked.

It’s got a lovely fruity flavor, but it isn’t overwhelming. You can still taste the black tea in it very well. This probably won’t be in my regular daily rotation as I prefer teas I can add milk to, but it would make a good afternoon tea, or an iced tea.

As a side note, I did try this with milk (I questioned myself the whole time I was prepping it, but I had to try). It tasted like creamy blueberry, sort of like your milk in a fruity cereal. So, folks that prefer milk teas: it’s not bad with milk. I found it kind of weird, but I could see how some people would like it. I might try it again sometime with milk.

I’m going to start out this review by warning that I’ve never found an earl grey that I love. That said, I thought this one wasn’t bad. It’s a milder flavor than most others I’ve tried, and the bergamot isn’t over powering. I think I keep trying earl greys because I love the scent, but then the flavor is usually too much for me. This one is a nice compromise, with the lighter taste, and still a lovely scent. I tried this with just a bit of sugar, and no milk.

drank Salted Caramel by DAVIDsTEA

Whether or not you’ll like this tea can be determined pretty simply: do you like salted caramel? And do you like your teas sweet? I like this tea with a bit of milk, although it’s not one of my favorites. My fiance LOVES this tea, however – which makes sense, because he’s obsessed with salted caramel anything. As a result, this tea has a permanent place in our tea cabinet.

So I just reviewed this a few days ago, but I had to update because I finally tried it with milk! The aggressiveness of the cinnamon does wonderfully with milk. Adding a little bit of milk just makes it creamy and comforting, while the spicy cinnamon still shines through (although not as assertively as plain). This tea honestly works better with milk than a lot of other spiced teas I’ve had do, as the basic spice in this one is strong enough that the milk doesn’t overpower it.

I don’t normally add milk. It would never occur to me to try it but I will now.

This was a very interesting tea. I’ve tried Genmai Cha before, and it’s similar to that. I can’t quite put my finger on what specifically was different, but I think I actually like this better than the Genmai Chas I’ve tasted before.

drank Peach by Adagio Teas

The moment I opened the package I knew I would love this tea, as it had a wonderful peachy scent. I added a little bit of sugar, and it’s just delicious – not artificial at all, just peachy goodness. It’s good with milk or without, just a slightly different experience either way.

I’m a big fan of apple cider, so was very excited about this. Drinking it with a spoonful of sugar and no milk, at first sip, it tasted exactly like cider – not much on the tea. Adding milk, however, made it taste more like the chai it is. With milk, it tastes like a good chai with some apple notes.
