Many thanks to ashmanra for sending me some of this to try, with the most adorable drawing of a GOLDEN SNAIL on it!

Awwwwwww!
This tea is delicious! When I had my first sip, I was bowled over by the sweetness of it! I think ashmanra hits the nail on the head when she describes it as Golden Monkey meets Emperor’s Red. It has the roasty and chocolatey going on, but it has the sweetness and mouthfeel (thick!) of a Golden Monkey.
Harney & Sons says they found this as a sort of replacement to Keemun Mao Feng, but I would argue that it is its own beast. It did not strike me as being Keemun Mao Feng’s little cousin, and having both in one’s cupboard would not be repetitive in my humble opinion!

Indeed, I can’t see this as a substitute for Keemun Mao Feng, as in, something that tastes very nearly like it, but perhaps as a tea that tastes as good as Mao Feng. I have really enjoyed this one. Glad you like it, too!
I read the description as they found this when they were looking for a Keemun Mao Feng replacement…meaning they needed a different source of KMF, but that is just my interpretation….. Wasn’t KMF out of stock for a while? Anyway, I love the Golden Snail, too!
It was a stamp! I only colored it, but thanks! And I think Keemun Mao Feng sells out because it is a small production tea, rather than them needing a new source, but not sure.

Love the drawing, BTW!

How adorable! :D
This is sounding more and more intriguing! I’ve never seen anything from Hubei before. I even had to get out a map to see where it is.
