1112 Tasting Notes
We got Mediterranean take out for dinner last night, and we saved the baklava for our evening tea. I wasn’t sure what to pair with it, but Organic Black with Coconut came to mind. It’s certainly not traditional, but I had an inkling it would be good.
Mmmm – the meaty coconut and medium bodied went so well with the flaky phyllo and nutty sweet. I highly recommend this unusual pairing! I don’t drink this tea as much as I used to, but when I do, I enjoy it so. Last January, I bought a big 8oz bag, and I am now on my last teaspoons of leaves! Looks like I’ll be tromping through the snow for another refill!
Preparation
I got this one from my Secret Santa Ross Duff. Thanks, Santa!
I was in the mood for more tea this afternoon and decided on this one. Perhaps it was not a good idea to choose another jasminey one because I love Rosy Earl Grey so much. This is pretty meh in comparison. I am not crazy about green tea, and this jasmine is not assertive enough to cover the vegetal, astringent taste of the green tea. Yet, the jasmine itself has a bit of an off taste to me too. Almost like a slight taste of nail polish remover?
It’s not so distasteful that I won’t finish my cup, and I may even try another steep, but I am glad that I only have this one silken sachet.
Oh, Rosy! I love you! I’ve MISSED you!!!!!!! I get so into my Winter Dark Roasty Smoky habit, that I forget how much I enjoy your sweet, gentle but flavorful, jasminey, rosy delightfulness. Definitely one of my Top Ten All Time Tea Loves. This tea is pure synergy – you don’t taste the individual ingredients as much as you taste this new amazing swoon worthy flavor. Love, love, love!
This review is for two consecutive nights of Vanilla Comoro. The first night we were craving something sweet and warm and comforting, and this fit the bill perfectly. Last night, we thought we deserved a treat after all that shoveling (nature abhors a vacuum! Must get those burned calories back in there!) so I bought a bag of Pepperidge Farm Brussels cookies. We had a joyous evening of big mugs of Vanilla Comoro and THE WHOLE BAG of Brussels. So wonderful with a sweet, or just by its own sweet self.

I love them all! I love Bordeaux, Geneva and Milano lots and lots! Empty Pirouette tins make great tea storage too!
You would be jealous I live about 15 minutes from the Pepperidge Farm plant… they have a discount outlet that i stock up on Milano’s!!!! Yummy!
Oh boy! It took us hours to dig out of the most recent snow storm because the street plow pushed all the snow into our driveway! I needed something lovely and gentle after I got to work (3 hours late!)! Golden Monkey fit the bill beautifully. Sweet honeyed elixir! I love you! Almost done my second steep, and going for a third.
Preparation
It has been out of stock for a little while but they said they are looking for some! I hope they find it soon because I only have about half a tin remaining. I think I am just going to buy a poind next time. This is a “best ever no-fail” tea for me!
Yeah, I was going to put this on my last Harney order but they were out of stock. It is okay though because this is the reason I ordered Emperor’s Red which I adore.
How would you compare this tea with Tea Etc.’s Golden Monkey which is one of my favorites? I may have to try this one.
Cold snowy Hot Cinnamon Spice morning!!! So sweet, delicious, warming. Makes the whole room smell good too!
Story: Remember the ginger peach tea my coworker gave me from his partner? He brought in the rest of the tin because he said I am so generous with sharing my tea with him. Awww! I was right – it’s Republic of Tea! Anyway – I like to keep the Tea Love flowing, so I gave him the rest of my tin of Hot Cinnamon Spice! He’s absolutely wild for it, and I heard it was his birthday recently. I’m always ordering from Harney, so I’ll replace it as soon as I can. I have to admit – it was a little hard – I did hesitate a moment because I love this tea so much! I’m glad my more giving impulses took over, because it’s really nice to have a tea sharing relationship in Real Life, too :)
Preparation
And the shipping from Harney is super fast too! I ordered Sunday and had my order Tues night. I also just saw on facebook today they are offering free shipping over $25. :)
Thank you for that heads up!! I am definitely going to take advantage of it! For anyone else reading – I looked it up – the code is CUPPA and it’s good until February 14TH!
I haven’t had this one in awhile, and BOY was it super delicious this morning! Chocolatey, roasty, full bodied and, erm, nothing like a Golden Monkey should taste, but… ;)
Preparation
Another free sample from Harney, in sachet form. It’s not bad, but nothing like the vibrant fresh apple-y wonderful loose chamomile I’ve purchased elsewhere. It tastes more like the meh chamomile I was used to before my revelatory super fresh chamomile experience…
Preparation
Pleasant, but not anything I’d go out of my way to purchase (this was a free sample that came with one of my orders). Better than your average tea bag, but the herbs don’t have that super fresh vibrant character I’ve come to love in my recent loose tisane purchases. I taste a dried mint flavor but nothing resembling verbena – and I love verbena!
Preparation
I was craving a plain black tea when I was on campus this evening, much to my misfortune, as the best thing one can get is Awake. It’s flat and nondescript compared to my black teas at home, and just a step above any ole black tea bag imo. I think I’m going to write Starbucks a letter, because I think their other full leaf offerings are so fantastic. I am so pleased with their Earl, Chai, Rooibos, and even their herbal, Passion. I can’t understand why they can’t do better with their plain black tea.
Preparation
So glad you posted this! I noticed some for sale yesterday at TJ Maxx and wondered if I should try it. I decided against it, and I am so glad I didn’t waste my money and cupboard space on it!
