39 Tasting Notes
Had this again over the weekend. I have to admit that I’m hoarding my last few tea bags of this because I don’t want to buy more tea (I have enough and I’m moving in 1.5 weeks) but don’t have any other genmaichas in my cupboard. Hopefully I can sipdown some of my Della Terra samples to justify placing a Verdant order for their genmaichas….. :)
This is the first Verdant Tea I have ever tried! It was from the 5 for $5 sampler that I received a few weeks ago; however, I was waiting for the right moment to dive into these teas. Anyway, I have only brewed teas western style, so brewing this tea with Verdant’s directions was an experiment.
1st steep (after rinsing): 20 sec, rock-metallic flavor. I am confused at this point.
2nd steed: 30 sec, metallic flavor plus buttery-ness at the end of the sip
3-5th steeps: progressively longer steeps, lots of buttery goodness.
Overall, I really enjoyed this tea experiment. I may have underleafed, or I may just not me used to the more subtle flavors of oolongs. Either way, I have enough of my sample left for at least one more tasting, plus my other 4 Verdant samples!
Preparation
This is sooooo good!! I wanted something I hadn’t tried yet, so I chose this. I have never had a strawberry flavored tea, and after tasting this one, I’m sure it won’t be my last. The strawberry is a bit candy like, but I like that flavor. I get a bit of cream, but the strawberry note is much stronger. I would definitely consider repurchasing this once my sample runs out. This would be great for the spring time!
