drank Vanilla Chai by Pukka
1379 tasting notes

A hectic day and now a relaxing night and what better way can you relax than with a chai tea?

The instructions say to brew this for at least 5 minutes using boiling fresh water. That is exactly what I have done for this tasting note.

The colour is a nice golden yellow liquid that smells sweetly cinnamon. I love cinnamon.

The taste is subtle and spicy with cinnamon tones with a kick of licorice in the after taste. A very cheeky blend that catches up to you with each sip you have. After half a cup though it tastes primarily of the licorice and it over powers the rest of the flavours, I was hoping that it would have more cinnamon in there and some vanilla since after all this is supposed to be a vanilla chai.

Overall this is not for me, it’s not vanilla, it’s not cinnamon, it’s just pure licorice. Still refreshing but just not to my tastes. This one will be up for a trade if anyone is interested.

I adore the little dark brown twisted loose tea look that this tea has. As I was brewing I imagined that each piece was a soldier who was giving the ultimate sacrifice to give my cup of tea full on flavour.

It has a beautiful dark golden hue and it smells very earthy but fresh. A dry and slightly bitter taste but very pleasing. It is smoky yet subtle and fresh, there is something magical about it’s flavour.

Simply wonderful.

I have a busy day ahead of me and this raspberry leaf tea sounded very relaxing and fruity to drink this morning. I do like most of the Clipper range and do prefer their loose leaf tea but their bagged tea (such as this one) is just as wonderful (usually).

It says on the back of the box to steep for 3-5 minutes with boiling water which is precisely what I have done.

Colour is very raspberry dark red, almost like a cordial pop.
Smell is beautifully fresh and fruity and strong.

This tea is just divine, fruity and strong yet with a mellow refreshing taste. It has everything I would look for in a fruit tea and each sip gives you the same experience as the first. You can certainly taste the raspberry and you can also taste the leaf, it is slightly bitter and is mostly in the after taste.

This does not have that stale, dusty taste that some bagged tea’s have and pre bagged is so easy to transport making this perfect for sharing with friends. Whenever I visit my friends and family I am forever taking my own tea bags down to visit and my offers of a cup of tea to mostly be turned down (as to them I drink strange tea). But this is the sort of tea that everyone can enjoy including children. It just has that sort of fruit juicy taste to it.

I am so delighted by this tea that it has gone straight into my cupboard to be used more often. Perfect for summer, just to kick back in the sun with a cup of this. Bliss.

Watching Red Dwarf with my husband and I felt like a lovely cup of tea so I chose this one at random to drink. It comes in a very lovely multi coloured and patterned pouch with a silver fresh sealed packet inside with the loose leaf tea. As soon as I opened the bag I noticed that the tea contains a good amount of lemongrass. I will take a photograph at some point as I cannot find anything about them on the internet at all. It was sent to me from a friend in Tibet.

Smell is sweet and freshly lemon. A wonderful scent, not overpowering but very notable.
Colour is also a wonderful light yellow hue with a slight dark tinge. Similar to honey.

The taste is very similar to the smell, making this a fresh and lemony cup of tea but not overpoweringly so. Wonderfully refreshing and extremely light to drink. It tastes more lemongrass than standard lemon but to me that is not a problem as I enjoy both.

I think a cup of this after a meal would be a great breath freshener. It could be boosted with a slice of lemon as well or even made into a nice ice tea. So many possibilities with this tea. Not sure if it’s the best lemon tea as named but it is a wonderful lemon tea.

A lovely taste of Tibet :)

I have been given this tea by a friend as well. It is very well tasting and I am searching for a source in Canada. I like their packaging-colourful bright bag that is a memento by itself.

The coloured bag was definitely a beautiful keep sake. I haven’t seen the tea online anywhere so good luck in your search. :)

I bought this around Christmas time along with around 12 others from www.teamoments.co.uk and I have been loving their blends ever since. Not only does it look wonderful and smell magical but it tastes heavenly as well.

This particular tea is for a soothing rest before I bathe and go to bed. This tea looks dark coloured, almost like coffee or soy sauce and it smells very fresh and citrusy. Reminds me of the smell of lemon tree’s in the summer :)

Taste wise you have the slight tartness of the lemon and black tea but it is balanced very well together. Neither of them take over each other. I do like that this has actual black tea in the mixture unlike many other fruit tea’s. I believe the cornflower and sunflower are mainly to help the mixture look amazing but also to help keep every mug of tea fresh tasting.

This is not my favourite blend by this company but it is a great lemon tea. And for such a cheap price as the company is only just starting up.

Perfect to drink in my ‘down’ time.

Another entry while I relax tonight and watch QI (I love Stephen Fry). Only one bag of this tea but the entry below mine seemed non too impressed so curious to see the result.

I do like fresh tasting green tea and usually brew loose leaf instead of bagged, as this tea is bagged I already have a feeling about how I shall rate this. I am however, trying not to let it cloud my judgement.

Colour: Dark amber liquidy goodness.
Smell: Extremely mild fragrance, does smell like green tea but not strongly.

Taste: Extremely airy and light, very hard to detect much flavour or taste. Not as stale as various other bagged green tea’s that I have had before BUT it is not as fresh as my usual loose leaf. Still drinkable…. just very subtle with everything.

On par with my premonitions in honesty so I am not blown away by this tea at all. Average at best and if I get given any more of this tea I shall make a mental note to brew it for longer.

It’s still relaxing though :)

I had some Bromley peach tea, that wasn’t stellar by any means, but it was decent for iced tea.

I think flavour of some sort would be much better for this brand. I felt at times as if I was just drinking hot water. Well when I say much better I mean a slightly improved rating to somewhere around 55 instead of the meagre 38 that it got.

QI is awesome. I’ve developed a weakness for Alan Davies. :)

Alan Davies does have his charms :) Plus he is amazingly funny.

Yes! QI! Alan Davies and Stephen Fry are the bomb. :)

Sorry about my in-activeness recently, after my holiday to Las Vegas I have had a few minor upsets. No point in drinking my wonderful tea’s if I cannot keep them down.

I chose this one as it sounded devilishly good right now with it’s spicy and sweet blend. Only one of these tea bags to try which was a gift from an American friend of mine.

The steeping time and water temperate was as stated on the back of the packet. And as always this tea was brewed without sweetener.

Colour: Deeply brown with amberesque highlights.
Smell: Magically cinnamon with anise.

Taste: Very much like the smell the most notable is cinnamon and anise, a wonderful combination. Thinking about it I used to import a chewing gum that was identical to the fragrance that was cinnamon flavoured.

I suppose it is both sweet and spicy but with a decent balance. Very tasty for a bagged tea…I wish I had more than just the one of these bags :(

Sort of refreshing too which could be the peppermint in this tea, for having so many ingredients though it is hard to pick anything out other than the three that I have mentioned (peppermint, cinnamon and anise). Still yummy by all accounts.

drank Caramel by Dilmah

I fancy a little indulgence moment right now and chose this wonderful sounding caramel tea. My cat quite likes the smell of this one =^_^=
I am hoping that Las Vegas, Nevada have some unique tea’s that I can buy later in the week when I visit. I imagined they would be sweet like this one sounds.

The colour is dark brown and almost looks like a hot chocolate.
The smell is sweet but you can also smell the black tea so it’s sweet yet bitter.

It tastes like a normal black tea but with two sugars to give it a lot of sweetness. I wouldn’t say it tasted like caramel per say but it certainly is sweet. Not too sweet though if you are used to sweet black tea anyway. I was hoping in fact that it would be sweeter and much more caramel like.
The black tea is alright, a little bitter and strong tasting.

If I ordered tea in a shop and was given this I would have absolutely no idea that it was caramel tea. It just tastes like a normal black tea with a sugar in it and a slight chemical taste.
Not very pleasing…..so much for my indulgence.

Chosen at random after having an awful day.

It states to steep for 2 minutes with boiling water on the back of the tea’s sachet.

The smell is sweet and reminds me of children’s flavoured medicine.
The colour is dark and looks like coffee (without creamer).

It tastes like it smells… like a children’s flavoured medicine. You can taste pineapple but it’s very sweet and overall it’s not very flavoursome. The more I drink the less I like it…. Honestly all I can taste is medicine… or perhaps a child’s toothpaste. The fruit’s do not taste natural. Just as well I only had one tea bag of this to try.

Well it goes well with my day, crappy day crappy cup of tea.

This is an instant tea that requires 3 spoons per mug that slowly dissolve’s. It can also be used with hot or cold water. I am trying it with boiling water.

Smell is pleasant and strong with sweet pineapple and coconut aroma’s that make me close my eyes and pretend I am on a beach somewhere far, far away.

Colour is brown with honeyed tones.

The taste is unbelievable (in a good way). Pina Colada is the perfect name as that is truly what it tastes like. Refreshing and full on flavour with sweet goodness. Not something I could drink all the time but it makes a nice change. It also leaves a pleasant after taste. Who would have thought a fruit cocktail tea medley would be so nice?

In one word? YUMMY!

Profile

Bio

I’m 34 years old from Leicester, England named Kayleigh.

I started off many years ago drinking herbal and fruit teas which over time peaked my interest in trying new types. Eventually I began to import and sample many different teas and cultures which I still do today. My life goal is to try as many teas and ways of having tea as possible.

Tea wise my cravings change constantly from pu erh one month to jasmine green to the next and so on.

I also enjoy watching Japanese Anime and horror films.

I am always up for tea swaps so if you see anything in my virtual cupboard then please contact me.

A short list to help swapping with me easier though honestly I am not fussy and am willing to try anything. Plus the notes below are usually, sometimes I love a tea that has an ingredient I tend to dislike and other times I hate a tea that I thought I would love.

Likes: Any fruit but especially melon and orange, vanilla, all tea types (black, green, white etc), nuts (any), flowers, ginger, chai.

Dislikes: Licorice, aniseed, clove, eucalyptus, lavender.

My rating system
I have my own way of rating teas that makes each one personal. I have different categories, I rate each tea depending on what it is made of. For example: I rate green teas in a different way to black teas or herbal teas. So black, white, green, Pu Erh, Rooibos, Oolong, blends and tisanes all have their own rating system. That way I can compare them with other teas of the same or similar type before for an adequate rating. And when I do give top marks which is very rare I am actually saying that I would love to drink that tea all day, every day if possible. It’s a tea that I would never turn down or not be in the mood for. So while I agree that no tea is 100% perfect (as nothing is) I am saying that it’s as close as it comes to it. After all, in my book the perfect teas (or close to perfect anyway) are ones that I could drink all the time. That is why you will find a high quality black or Oolong will not have as high a score as a cheap flavoured blend, they are simply not being compared in the same category.
