4843 Tasting Notes

I have not yet tried any teas from TeaGschwendner but it is a company that I’ve been planning a purchase from for some time now. It is nice to be able to try a tea from them before placing an order.
I tried it first without steamed, frothed milk or sweetener, and I found that after brewing 4 minutes, there was a hint of bitterness to the tea. When I added the milk and honey, the bitterness disappeared.
But what didn’t disappear is the bold, strong presence of the tea and the warm and peppery spices. It is a pleasantly spiced chai. YUM!
Preparation
This is a very good blueberry flavored white tea – the tea has a nice amount of blueberry flavor but it doesn’t overwhelm the white tea. The white tea tastes light, crisp and clean. The blueberry tastes fresh and authentic – it isn’t overly sweet, but does possess a nice amount of sweetness.

Preparation
This is one of the newer tea blends from Metropolitan Tea. It has a lovely aroma – it smells like my gramma’s pecan pie! YUM!
It has a delicious nutty flavor that is very pecan pie-ish… the buttery note of the Sencha lends itself well to the overall “pecan pastry” taste.

Meghann: Unless you’ve a business license, you probably won’t be able to order from Metropolitan Teas directly, as they only sell wholesale. However, it is likely that you’ve tried Metro teas without even realizing it, because they are one of the largest wholesale distributors of tea in the US…
I wonder which companies resell this? Probably any one who offers a pecan pie flavored green tea?

If anyone is having a hard time finding Metropolitan Teas, try checking some local “tea rooms” or cafe. Places that don’t necessarily produce and make their own stuff. I’m in a small-ish city (100k pop.) and there are two such places that exclusively sell this company’s tea.
This is a very interesting chai blend – one of the more unique ones I’ve ever tried.
The licorice, together with the cinnamon, ginger and coconut creates a very strong flavor that is a little overwhelming, but I am enjoying it. I have a hard time distinguishing the black tea here, though.
Even though it is a very pungent tea, I found it to be soothing and relaxing to sip.

Wow! This is REALLY good. I don’t know why I should be surprised, though. Every single Dammann Frères tea that I’ve tried has been good, most have been beyond good! This is one of those beyond good ones.
The flavor of the green tea is prominent – it has a rich buttery taste with a smooth mouthfeel and a vegetative quality that is a bit like steamed and buttered green vegetables – spinach maybe? It isn’t a strong vegetative essence but it is there in the background and I like how it plays with the very juicy tasting fruit flavors in this blend.
I taste strawberry, even though the description from Dammann Frères does not indicate that there are strawberries in this blend. Perhaps it is the melon that I’m tasting. The lemon is distinct, especially in the finish. The fruit has a nice balance of sweet and tart.
It’s YUMMY!

I enjoyed a latte that I made using this chai while eating a white tea brownie (yum).
This chai has a lovely Nilgiri base that is strong and stout, and the spices are warm and I love the vanilla in this. It adds a really smooth, sweet taste to it.

The only place I could find this Assam on the Drink T website was in the Tea Lover’s Root Basket…
This is a unique Assam in that I can taste strong spice notes that I don’t typically experience with other Assam teas. It has a nice, baked quality as well as the malty characteristic that I expect from an Assam… but this one has something more to it that reminds me slightly of a Keemun tea – a spice note and a wine-like note. It has a full-bodied flavor but it is a bit lighter than a typical Assam.
It’s very intriguing.
