296 Tasting Notes
A very full bodied and great black tea, and this company was so sweet with my order. Have a few more samples to try. I paired this with a lot of carbs since I was doing an event and had a slice of vanilla cake, a little chocolate ice cream, and sliced strawberries. This all went amazingly well together. Weight-wise, not so much!
Finished up my little bag of this. It is a very unique tea. I like it, and sometimes I don’t. It’s for certain moods and certain palettes; however, I don’t feel I’ll order it as a staple. Love the name, though, so that’s kind of a shame, but there’s so many teas and so little room and time.
I’ve never been a rose fan but this one pushed my buttons. Enjoyed on Saturday during a readathon. Paired with some cheese and crackers, brewed in a 3 cup pot with two cubes of sugar and one heaping tsp of tea for five minutes. The rose is vibrant and not cloying or perfumey. I am used to London Victorian Fog and earl greys flavored with Lavendar, which this apparently has as a mild background accompaniment but not the main floral star. In this case, the rose is the predominant and it works smoothly and is unique and memorable. Will definitely be ordering more of this.
Preparation
Lady Lavendar does do a milder, less intrustive Earl Grey with that floral touch – hence likely the “lady” – but I was hoping for a wee bit more strengtjh. The black tea is in the background, perhaps more of an oomph in that area? It’s mildly bergamot, which comes across more when cooling of course. The orange scent is predominant when in the bag but brewed it mixes in and hard to tell it from the bergamot besides taming it slightly. It is creamy and a pleasant cup, just doesn’t stand out as much as I’d hoped.
Preparation
People weren’t wrong, this was actually a delicious mint seasonal tea. I don’t care for most of Adagio’s teas I’ve tried, so that’s a second surprise. Glad I took a chance and ordered a larger bag of this one for the price deal. The chocolate is creamy and blends nicely. Can be my first keeper for the shelf from Adagio – but of course it seems to be seasonally available, but that should be fine as long as I remember to re-order.
This was a very good basic black tea! Had a lunch with some smoked turkey and cheese on crackers with apple slices, and decided to try a pot of this with 9 oz of water with 1 TBS filter bag, 4 1/2 minutes brew, and 2 cubes of sugar. Very good and well-rounded, balanced black tea. Definitely strong enough with this amount of water and steep time, was going for five but got lazy. Not bitter at all.
Preparation
I’m very much digging this company. I think I’ve liked every one I have tried and their prices are reasonable!
I have such fond memories of the now gone Plum Brandy Cheesecake by Butiki Teas - and speaking of that, looks like my log and rating on that is gone (???) - and no, don’t get too excited, this is sadly not a replacement for that tea. It’s good, but no, doesn’t have the complex “oomph” for that. My point was that Plum with black tea can be such a good mix from my experience, so I added this to my recent order to get to the 50.00 for free shipping. And to think it was all because I needed new paper tea filters, which are only about 5 dollars or so.
This one is still good though – sweet but not overpowering and stays good as it cools. The description is acidic and maybe that’s there slightly, but to me not drying or astringent or citrusy. It is smooth and blended with the black tea part coming across as good and no bitterness – yah!
I was on the phone and didn’t want to yell out to Alexa to set the five minute timer while speaking to my supervisor on the phone, so I steeped this one under five minutes. Next time I’ll try at the full five minute steep.
