ADVENT DAY 15, tea 3/3

Floral bomb for the evening. Yes, this smells and tastes incredlibly floral. There is not much of lemon; but lemon verbena and a whole lot of lavender. And roses.
Taste is, not surprisingly, floral again, with some powdery note and sadly nothing that reminds me lemons. A bit refreshing thanks to spearmint. And a bit soapy… but that makes sense.

But it’s relaxing, not gonna lie. Just not my preffered flavor profile. But the box looks prety, isn’t it?

ADVENT DAY 15, tea 2/3

Hmm, yummy!
A cup full of round muscatel, followed with some herbal and grassy notes; with mouthcoating qualities like a honey. Gulped it down.

Last year it was fruitier than this vintage, but nevertheless it’s wonderful cup.

ADVENT DAY 15, tea 1/3

Welcome to another meh tea from Yawn.
Well, I guess that the FF Darjeeling from other calendar would make my morning better than this. It just tastes like earl grey, but cream, vanilla or what should say ice cream is almost non-existent. And the level of bergamot is so damn low!

It tasted like a very, very faded earl grey. That rather surprises me when I had a good experienced with some of their teas earlier in the advent calendar.

ADVENT DAY 14, tea 3/3

This tea stinks when brewed. I can’t describe it well, but it was just foul somehow. But it didn’t made me to spill it out; so I took a sip. Well, not great if you ask me!

But it was cooling down, and in one or two sips I thought it is actually pretty good. Chocolate covered chai — but spices being very, very tamed. Maybe that’s what I disliked the most. It was just a muddled spicy flavour covered in cocoa.

Overall, today wasn’t so great day with the advent teas. I hope it’s only one day :)

ADVENT DAY 14, tea 2/3

I believe this is very fine teas, but it seems I am not so much fan of yancha oolongs, ya’ know?

It is strong in mineral tastes, with warming cinnamon aftertaste. Maybe a bit too roasted for my tastes. It wasn’t rough, just I am not a friend of this flavour profile.

Prepared gongfu – 5 g / 125 ml; 90°C.

ADVENT DAY 14, tea 1/3

Yay, a flavoured green! Oh, jasmine… yes the buds are present. But fruits? Why to ruin it with fruits?

After steeping I noticed the jasmine for sure and base tea was okay; but that whiff of fruits, made from flavourings only (!) was just making whole tea muddled in flavours and it wasn’t working well with the flowers.

When something is called a fruit salad, I would expect an explosion of fruits… but that would cover the jasmine. Well, as I said, I don’t think that those two go together.

Logging a day late as I had a Christmas work team gathering. And actually drank on day 14.

Two steeps, each 2 minutes long.

It wouldn’t be truth if I say I never had Ceylon-grown white tea. I had and I quite liked them. But yes, they are quite rare, indeed.

Intense floral notes, slightly reminding me elderflowers; followed with woody notes. But from light trees; birch for instance. Second steep is definitely woodier, with honey notes.
Mouthfeel is long and oily, aftertaste is herbaceous.

Interesting twist of White Peony and I never heard about Ebony Springs Tea Plantation, but they have apparently a good tea. At least their white tea.

Logging a day late as I had a Christmas work team gathering.

Well, this one was fine. Not really sure if cookie enough; but I noticed cocoa and coconut. With very strong malty black tea base.

But none of following promise: “sweet honey and maple cookie taste”

Logging a day late as I had a Christmas work team gathering.

Prepared this tea as a morning tea in the office and well, it was fine. I have eyeballed the water temperature as I have there just a kettle without selecting temperatrure, so I did my old trick and listened to the water… and it was just right I assume.

It was mellow green tea, with more lemony taste than the ginger. Ginger was very weak and not much present in taste. All other lemon notes were present, for instance lemongrass and lemon myrtle.

Ah well, a tea I know already!

Following my note, I decided to use only 70°C water and whatever long steeps. I wasn’t caring too much to be honest.

While it was a bit harder to find white grapes; they were there in flavour with many other fruits, mostly tropical ones.

Happy to revisit this tea and now I wonder how much and where is the rest of my sample I have. The first I can find in my system, but the location remains unknown. But it won’t be that hard to find for sure.
