I prepared this tea gong-fu today, but wasn’t doing tasting note while drinking.

4g/85 ml gaiwan, not preheated, rather long rinse, long steeps.

At first the bamboo were quite noticeable, adding quite a pleasant experience, not smoky! Bit woody, deciduous-tree forest. Yummy.

Then it goes through wet forest floor, thick, roasted, bit earthy notes. Honestly, I don’t remember too much, because I was doing lots of other things – mostly studying mathematics for Friday exam. I am not even close to I want to be, I am completely stuck in first two chapters and can’t go past them somehow. I feel bit “that stuff isn’t that necessary” but actually it is as well, of course!

There were some notes of stonefruits, but not in fruity way. Hopefully I will have chance to try this tea without any disturbance, because this tea is worth it.

Apparently I got this tea before. And not that distant past. Just a year back. Aroma is sitll banana like, but brewed and steeped tea is very different. I notice honey as well herbs, mainly chamomile.

In taste it is pretty medicore. Not terribly bad, but sweet and herbal; without much else to notice. No yuck notes, but not something I would drink on daily basis.

And another exam done. Accounting. Pretty meh honestly, but it is done, so it counts!

Tulsi is my go-to when I need something medicinal to unwind, but I can’t see it blending well with either honey or chamomile. I prefer it straight or with mint.

April 2020 subscription, but decided to cut open this tea today.

I needed a strong caffeine boost as I need to do lots of study. And I have slept badly. And I had a headache. Almost a migraine. But I hope it’s not that.

Worked well. Okay I took painkiller, but this tea was so caffeine strong! Yeah!!

And in taste? Well, it was mellow and creamy, with coffee notes and overall very enjoyable. Vanilla here as well, with bit juicy from currants and cranberries maybe? I noticed both of them there today. I wonder if they reblended it or I was just more lucky with ingredients in my DIY tea bag?

Sounds delicious, Martin! Wouldn’t expect a ceylon black with added tidbits of dried nuts, berries, and coffee beans to actually taste pleasant. B&B must know their stuff.

Nattie: Kind of. I was tired all day though. I can recommend it if you like Tiramisu or similar cakes. And if it is on Secret website, it will be gone soon? Maybe I am bit sad of it, it is very interesting blend.

Eelong: It is indeed better than expected! Especially if you need strong caffiene boost as I needed. But I understand you tht you don’t believe that almonds, berries and coffee beans + tea can work. I wasn’t believing that myself too (when I saw it for first time)!

I actually don’t like tiramisu, but I have a tiramisu flavoured tea which I love! And I love affogato (: I actually finished the last of my Butiki Coffee and Ice Cream tea today and I need something to replace it.

It doesn’t always mean it will be gone soon, but this tea in particular has a little ‘last chance’ stamp on it.

Tried it again; two teaspoons and not boiling, but close to boiling water Haven’t checked temperature, but I guess it was around 85°C.

This time it was much better, not that earthy, rather nice and grassy with fresh and juicy peaches! Today it was how I have expected it! Fresh, ripe peaches with grassy green tea notes and little earthy and herbal from sage. Nice, really interesting blend which isn’t boring at all!

Flavors: Earth, Freshly Cut Grass, Peach

This tea is among 4 others from postcrossing. It’s nice to get some random teas with only one condition. You have to send back some as well.

This is decent black tea with lemon flavour.

There is almost none astringency from tea, lemon tastes quite genuine, as well aroma from it is decent. Tea, as well lemon tasted very fresh and overall I was quite happy with this one after few hours of work with scythe and morning exam… (still don’t have results, so probably in Monday)

I prepared this tea again today for thermos cup I received after passing high school leaving exams. I usually don’t use it much; but this morning was exactly day for that. I was kinda in a hurry for a train, I had another exam today. Saturday! Mathematics! Course credit only!

Anyway, I wasn’t using boiling water, but haven’t measured the temperature. Steeped actually quite long; they suggest 2-3 minutes and I did maybe close to 5.

Well, that was awesome tea with great energy boost! It wasn’t grassy as I would like to have, but it is only tea bag (though pyramid) but full of grass seed flavours! It was just right; then some notes of toasted rice which was very nice and somehow filling the stomach even I haven’t ate them, but it felt just right.

As of now, I don’t know results of exam yet. I don’t even know, I have done it at least partially right. But the tea!

I don’t have exact steepings, but there are so many nice aromas dry, wet leaves or liquor taste or…

Today mornin was quite a strange weather. It was looking it will rain dogs and cats, but nothing from that. In the afternoon was few heavy showers, the sky is like iron curtain all day, I need to study but can’t focus at all today (and tomorrow is important exam, if I fail, then next Saturday is really last chance from all the book; and that is hell (Mathematics!!!)).

But to the tea; certainly there are pertichor aroma. I love that smell and somehow I thought it is present somehow in all steeps. In aroma? For sure. In taste? Nope.

So first steeps were 10-30 seconds long, depends how much I was speaking with my dad. I noticed chocolate notes, its smooth flavour, not woody at all, but certainly note of wet coniferous forests. It was quite pleasant, easy to drink. I wasn’t paying too much attention, but it was somehow on sweet notes too, I checked my previous tasting note saying vanilla and it could be that. But today I think it is ratther some heavier black beer, maybe bit similar to Guinness? Dunno. But it was very pleasant.

Following steeps were longer and longer, while I usually ended around 45 seconds, certainly less than minute.

It was quite same, while it was once stronger, once weaker, but still somehow chocolate like with coating aftetaste with sweet notes and now it went bit woody, autumn leaf piles and similar notes.

Last two steeps were over minute long, which brought mild bitterness in addition to all previous notes. Maybe I am not that amazed with this tea as I was last time, but I will keep 99 for historical reasons. Maybe it’s not that great, but it is first pu-erh that amazed me!

Now, let’s go back to studies of Mathematics. Bleh.

Not at all Nattie. 7 are remaining. Proper exams. I passed usually so far only course credits. It is crazy system here! Sometimes you do two, almost same, exams.

Another exam passed. A credit exam, so proper exam waits for me. Full points; which is very encouraging though!

A tea bag received from postcrossing, form Germany while it is aparently Polish tea bag with Ceylon tea inside. Globalisation!

International Blend

Ehm, okay. But it is so basic black tea; it doesn’t have any other qualities. If I don’t count metallic aftertaste (although it has not got any metal staple), and longer steeping than suggested 3 minutes will make it only very and terrible bitter.

Sad tea with nice tea bag. Can I drink some decent tea please?

Thank you guys. You are all so encouraging! I am somehow puzzled; I am doing well, better than usual, but still I am sad with that I don’t see light in the end of tunnel. There are exams left, some are really hard. But it’s not that bad, I am telling myself. Maybe all the “stay at home” have different effects to me as well.

Typical Puerh from tea bag. Boring, very earthy. Stinks.

Luckily I did short steeping, so it wasn’t that bad. But overall it was pretty nothing. Just bland tea. Was it even puerh?
