1847 Tasting Notes

A last from Nabo and honestly not much fan of it. At first, I generally don’t like chocolate teas as they lack in flavours. Secondly, I prefer dark chocolates and if possible, no flavours added (nuts are welcomed exception, but as a pieces, not flavouring).

Mint is a ingredient in chocolate that is very hit or miss for me.

So, I was sceptical seeing this tea (maybe it is Swedish thing though). It has got quite strong alcohol aroma.

When brewed, it wasn’t much better, however luckily it has not transferred into taste. The taste was chocolately, but a bit artificial for me and not “dark” enough. It was rather milk choco for me, and the mint was somehow strange addition there. As from spices that are in the ingredients, I don’t think that I have even noticed them.

I could copy and paste the note from ashmanra and it would be absolutely that what I am feeling about this tea. Quite sweet — but no sugars, stevia or whatever. Also it smells a bit like camomile, but none in here. A little minty and a little drying, but overall very nice blend.

Actually, I am surprised that I have rated it only 55, it deserves at least my average 70.

Well, this was so good I have steeped it twice.
Be careful, it is very floral and can imagine it is not for everyone. But oolong base was very good for me, with tropical fruit notes, overall it was nicely sweet and floral. Maybe rose went a bit overboard of florals, but I highly enjoyed it.

They say “… a sweet and fresh floral combination that makes us think of summer.” and I have to agree, it tasted like a summer in the cup, which certainly isn’t a bad thing for me.

It jumpes into wishlist without more ado

So yes, this is yesterday Sonnentor Advent tea, which I just postponed because I didn’t wanted two caffeine-free teas and it just sounded as another herbal tea.

That said it is absolutely true it is another herbal tea. Nothing distinctive, mild, calming tea. Some sips were a bit bitter.

Too much acid in stomach? Maybe it can help, but why putting it in Advent Calendar? Maybe as a post-advent tea it would be better.

It was only Advent tea I had yesterday while Sonnentor Acid-Base Balance was the second and decided to postpone that.

I completely agree with Courtney that the aroma of dry and even steeped tea isn’t nice.

However in steeped notes I agree with Cameron a little sweet cinnamon tea, pretty much cacao here, with fruity, blueberry taste. I know she didn’t noticed that, but I did! I didn’t noticed the orange though.

Nice one.

Well, I guess that for Winter Night there is no better day than today, a winter solstice day. I really realised it was long time dark ouside today in the morning.

Anyway to the tea; I pretty much agree with note by ashmanra year ago. It is pretty much hibiscus forward, a little tart. I also notice cloves again, and some mishmash of citruses. One would say that it tastes very simillar to Spicy Christmas I had a few hours back, but with different base.

Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

This is, uncommon green tea blend. It rather looks like black one, it is really dark and… when brewing it releases also rather copper-brown colour instead of green. Well… it is supposed to be green tea, so I will believe it is a green tea blend.

It smells heavily after cloves with roses in the pouch and my mom said it smells very appealing for her and nodded that I should brew it for the family — 2 tablespoons for 2500 ml tea pot.

Sadly, it isn’t that good when brewed, not so complex aroma nor the taste. It is certainly clove forward and the base is hay-like (yay green tea note!), but I have been expecting more ginger in it. A little orange appears there too with the cinnamon.

Mistletoe is an interesting ingredient here, but as I have no idea how it should taste like, I am not sure if I notice it at all. Shame that it does not have that warming, spicy ginger.

Oh, this is supposed to be black currant tea?
Not so sure about that. Yep, the taste and aroma was somehow familiar, the tartness as well, but if it is blackcurrant?

Maybe as I wasn’t expecting it, I wasn’t sure what was the flavour. Now, smelling used leaves indeed seems to be.

It was quite pleasant, but I would say fruity with tart element. I will repeat myself, I haven’t found out it is currant flavor.
The base tea was fairly strong as well and I have enjoyed it after getting home from the pavements full of glaze ice.

This tea has several ingredients that aren’t available here. Base is from green oat (35 per cent of blend) for instance.

Birch leaves. Yes, I have heard using it as herbal here. Hyssop. What’s that actually?

Anyway it tastes pretty similar to other Sonnentor teas. Very herbal, but with strange (but lovely) aftertaste. Yes, juniper berries make the flavour a bit uncommon with piney flavours as they do. They were a bit musty, but in such a small bag I am not surprised :)

Enjoyable evening cup.

Also… 20th December means one more thing. My mother is turning 60 today!

Happy birthday to your mom! Today is also my neighbor’s birthday, so I make her a cake each year because I hear people with late December birthdays complain that it all gets mixed in with Christmas. Does your mom ever feel that she misses out on a real birthday? Tell her happy birthday from me!

Whew… Christmas shopping over (almost). And I even bought some teas, but only for the giftees and none for me. Yay, that was a great achievment for me. There were so interesting and good ones (based on their names), new companies for me, but I have been restrained and bought none for me.

Anyway, this tea should be pear and ginger tea on green tea base, but sadly, I would say it is green variety of tea with rose. I noticed just rose with mediocre green tea base, which was hay-like and quite flat in flavour. A little sweetness was there, but honestly no pear in that for me! And ginger? Not at all!

Congrats on not buying yourself anything! I don’t know if I could show that kind of restraint. XD

I am buried in tea!

Nattie

Lmao, me too :‘) I want to place soooo many orders, but I’m forcing myself to get my cupboard down to 100 teas first! Only another 158 to go…

Martin Bednář

Very similar here! I am saying myself that I need to have always a cup with tea with me, but somehow I am not able to!
