335 Tasting Notes
Having your knee in a splint sucks. This tea makes it better. I had to add milk, I usually love tea naked, but no, not this tea. It just adds to the luxury creaminess. This is a diabetic/gluten free’s dream! I like how others describe it doughy, perfect word for this tea. It has a slight Fruit Loops smell and taste, as if this tea could be any better! I love teas that are called something, and they are exactly that. This is that. Thank you wombat for a sample! This is on my Shopping List.
Preparation
I received this tea from Doulton. I too am not much a fan chamomile. I can have a tea with chamomile if it’s barely there. This one had too much for me. It was nice iced, I still drank it all, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. I’m burned out of lemongrass in herbals, so that might also be why I am not in love or lust over this tea, too. I have some mint tea laying around, I might brew them together.
It seems like a great tea for people who are feeling fluish, since you got your citrus and rosehips in there. Lemongrass, we need a break. I still love you…trust me, I’ll come back.
Preparation
I got this as my free sample with my order. This is the first tea from TeaG I am not into. I wasn’t into the Elderflower one, but it tasted like Elderflower! This one is suppose to taste like apples and coriander, and it’s so faint. It has a faint green apple taste, that I wouldn’t have picked up without being told there’s apple in it. Though when cooled down, the apple came through the fog! If you love granny smith raw, then this is for you. I personally don’t like granny smith unless baked or in chicken salad or soup.
The green in this blend isn’t standing up. I have one more teaspoon in my sample, I will try brewing a little longer. I don’t think lowering the temp of the water will help, but I might do that. Just not a fan.
Preparation
I agree with everyone reviews, there’s nothing that is PB & J about this tea. There’s a small hint, it’s so faint like it’s not even there. A ghostly hint, that’s what it is. I like rooibos, but this is just rooibos to me, plain and simple.
Preparation
This is my first experience with Assam that isn’t CTC. Very robust and malty. As recommended from Upton, this would be very tasty in chai. I must admit, it’s a lot better than the stuff at the India grocery that’s all CTC. More layers of the flavors. Has a coffee like bite to it. Doesn’t seem to stand up for rebrewing as well after third time. All the initials after all the different Assams is overwhelming to me, but I googled and found out what it meant! Yay! I love how much there is to learn with each different variety of tea, it’s like a rabbit hole. Oh tea, I love how complex you are!
Preparation
I found this at my local Indian store. It’s $5 for 1 lb. It’s just your run of the mill Assam, malty and strong. I bought it for the intent to make chai blends, and it works just perfect. I might try the Taj Mahal brand next time. But this brand was just fine. It’s CTC, grainy little bits, it reminds of nigella seeds but courser. I’ve worked in a couple Indian restaurants, and never knew Assam leaves were normal, I was so used to these little pellets like this tea.
Preparation
I want to thank you Doulton for an ample sample of this green tea. Very mellow Chinese green. No astringency. Great iced and hot. It isn’t a weak tea, but it’s mild, if that makes sense. The second brew was even more likable. If I could personify this tea, I would think it would be the Dude from The Big Lebowski. Just laid back, doesn’t care that it’s mellow.
Preparation
If you are a fan of real dark chocolate, 71% and up, this is the tea for you. I always buy myself a 71% Valrhona chocolate to nibble on, and this tea is exactly that. Deep, robust…wait…is this coffee? When it cooled down, I liked it even more. I have a teaspoon left, I am brewing this in my milk next time. This is an okay chocolate tea, but I prefer Numi’s Chocolate tea. I’m still on the outlook for the best chocolate tea! Thank you Doulton for a sample! :)
Preparation
This is my first tea I have tried by Mariages Freres thanks to Doulton! Ohhh, I like it! It’s hard to not like anything French, the Francophile in me wouldn’t allow it. It was a mellow blend of vanilla like lush, very light fruit, and a breeze of sweetness. I would probably double the teaspoons for a more flavorful cup. Very nice, I will have to try this again. I had it iced, and it brewed only twice. Seems like rooibos usually just has two brews to it.
Preparation
I bought this on a whim at my local Japanese store. I prefer Den’s genmai-cha to this greatly. It was ok, too much rice for me I think. It came out a green murky liquor. It tasted thick. It was good iced. I don’t think I would buy again.
