drank Laoshan Black by Verdant Tea
525 tasting notes

I dunno you guys… This current batch of Laoshan black is not as tasty as the sample I had just before they sold out. It’s nowhere near as chocolatey and tastes way roastier. Is this a spring picked version? Maybe I only like the autumn or summer picked batches? It tastes more like plain tea than awesome tea. This tea as it is would not have converted me over to black. This is my third attempted since getting this pouch a few weeks ago, so I’m pretty sure it’s not just my brew style. :(

Hmmm I will be interested to see how others feel about this. Haven’t seen too many reviews for the new picking yet.

I’m also very interested in other feedback. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? I hope it’s just me. :(

The only LB I’ve had is this new batch so I don’t have anything to compare it to. But I found it to be super chocolatey. I’m not one to notice many of the various flavors in straight tea, but I caught that one for sure. It must have been REALLY chocolatey before. It is super roasty though, but I like roasty teas.

Oh crap…maybe I need to save my old bag and just order a new bag lol

Yes, I feel you are right with your ideas of how it tastes. Really, really roasty. Unfortunately it’s the only one I’ve tried so I can’t say how it compares.

I came from a tea drinking family, but I never appreciated the different qualities and varieties of tea until older. All that time wasted! But I guess I needed to be mature enough to appreciate the tea experience. :)

My favorite teas are green oolongs and white tea. I also love greens, especially gyokuro. I have a huge appreciation for rooibos and honeybush as they are often that only thing I can drink in the evening. I am a relatively new convert to black teas. This is unfortunate for my wallet but extremely wonderful for my palate. :)

In any case, I have a love for both flavored and unflavored teas. They are different experiences for sure, but both enjoyable. I find that it often depends on my mood.

I am on a quest to find a tea that will win my husband over. I think I’m making some headway…
