With coconut cream. So sweet and delicious. I can tell it’s a dessert flavour, but my taste/smell are still really off.

Still, I’ve really really enjoyed my mug of this tonight.

And now, soon to sleep. Or at least curling up in bed with my tablet instead of sitting in front of a computer.

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

I cold steeped this…

In one word? DON’T!

It tastes so so strongly of mate. I’ve had to dump the whole jug. :(

VariaTEA

Oh no. I am sorry this went so wrong.

OMGsrsly

Me too!! But, I guess it’s a good way to use things up. :)

VariaTEA

Haha. I discovered cold brewing as I wanted a way to use leaf faster. Usually if I am not really into a tea I will cold brew it because I figure I can drink it pretty quickly that way. Sometimes I get surprised though and find a tea that is bad hot is actually really good cold brewed

OMGsrsly

I didn’t even try this one hot! It smelled so orangey and fantastic that I cold brewed what I had. Oh well!

Cold steeped all day. I used Fjellrev ’s suggestion, and just used a tea bag. That way I could put the lid on my mason jar, and avoid spilling. It worked wonderfully! Thanks!

This is really good. Orange-grapefruit, some tartness from the hibiscus, and a hint of cooling eucalyptus. It is DEFINITELY something I’d consider getting in a future order.

However. It looks almost exactly the same as Tealux’s Orange Lemonade. So since I’m doing a Tealux order within the next couple months, I’ll just get that one instead. I can always grapefruit it up with my grapefruit seed extract, or the food oil I have.

Preparation
Iced 4 tsp 37 OZ / 1100 ML
Sami Kelsh

Mmm, grapefruit.

OMGsrsly

The grapefruit herbal from Steam Tea House/The Tea Guy is amazing, if you get a chance to order/try. :)

Bear With Me

Ditto the recommendation of the Steam/Tea Guy herbal! I sent my sister to pick more up for me…

OMGsrsly

Awesome!

Bear With Me

I may also have told her that if she doesn’t bring me more of the Bayswater grapefruit earl grey I’ll disown her. :P

OMGsrsly

Hahaha! Just a little addicted to that delicious tea ?

Bear With Me

I fully admit that I am hopelessly addicted to it! Grapefruit is godly, and by far my favourite citrus fruit. I’m going to be living off of cups of grapeferuit segments in white grape juice (from Costco) after Thursday’s surgery, haha

drank Spiced Apple Cider by Teavana
2291 tasting notes

This has rooibos in it? I swear there’s no rooibos in my bag. Just lots of ‘stuff’. Cinnamon sticks, apple pieces, dark lumps of something. Stuff.

It’s not a sickly sweet cinnamon flavour, which is a good thing. But it’s pretty much just cinnamon water. I’m not getting any apple.

Adding coconut cream doesn’t do anything either.

I give up. Down the drain. I might accidentally dispose of the rest of it unless someone’s interested – I’d just drop it in a regular envelope…

drank The Earl of Lemon by DAVIDsTEA
2291 tasting notes

This tea is weird. It’s super creamy and lemony – almost like lemon yogourt. I don’t think I really like it. I mean, it smells nice, and the idea of it is nice, I’d just rather be eating the yogourt!

Flavors: Cream, Lemon Zest

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 7 OZ / 200 ML
Crowkettle

Mm, yogurt. I wasn’t expecting that!

OMGsrsly

Liberté Méditerranée. Lemon. So good.

Hmm.

Today I’m getting more baked cookie, but there’s still that underlying current of pine forest. I’m not quite munching on the needles, but it’s darn close.

Definitely interesting, but I prefer the fairy tea they have with yabao in, whatever it’s called. I know I have some around here somewhere… ;)

This will be steeped many times today. I’m curious as to how it changes, even with a cold!

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 2 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
mrs.stenhouse12

Fairy tea as in Eight Treasures Yabao? That is possibly my all time favorite tea blend. I constantly hoard it and only sip it on very very special occasions/moods :D

OMGsrsly

Yeah, that might be it. I have two versions of it now. I don’t mind it, but I prefer the ginger sage. :)

mrs.stenhouse12

Mmmm ginger sage is my FAVORITE herbal haha, I am currently out and going crazy without it lol, need to place an order in March! Eight Treasures wins for favorite actual tea blend lol, but ginger sage might be my favorite tea ever actually..

OMGsrsly

Mmm. I really want some right now, but I’m getting through my bag pretty quick, being sick. I wasn’t planning on another Verdant order for a while, but might need to push it up. :)

With coconut cream and maple syrup.

At least I can taste it!

I’m feeling better again today, but so so grateful it’s a holiday. I’ll probably go in to work tomorrow for a part day, just to get some stuff started, but wow I did WAY too much yesterday. Cleaning takes a lot out of a sick person.

Courtney

You always have the best sounding additions. Coconut cream and maple syrup? Yum. I think the maple whipped cream was my favourite sounding one though.

OMGsrsly

Oh, the maple whipped cream is AMAZING. But I’m off dairy right now, so coconut it is!

Courtney

Coconut is also amazing! Do you make the coconut cream yourself? And if so, how??

OMGsrsly

I just buy it in a can. I get 70% coconut milk stuff with no additives, stick it in the fridge, open it from the bottom and pour the water off, then transfer it into a glass jar. Heh. It’s pretty solid, and you have to slowly pour your tea over it or it breaks. It might break anyways, though. Looks awful but tastes fine! Sometimes you can actually find coconut cream in a can, but I haven’t seen it yet.

I went to a health food store today, and noticed they had marshmallow leaves. Of course, I had to buy them. I mean, it was ~3 cups worth for only $5! That 3 cups is only 50g. This stuff is super light and fluffy.

First thing I did was add some to my chamomile homebrew sleepy tea. There’s chamomile, lemongrass, fennel, lavender, possibly marshmallow root, maybe even other things in there. I don’t remember, and I don’t feel like going back through my random steepings to figure it out. It’s just a bunch of stuff I don’t mind thrown together in not very well measured amounts.

This is nice. Really nice. It’s not as thin as it usually is. Even though I still can’t really taste anything, I get the impression of sweetness.

But, uhh, I have 3 cups worth. That’s a lot. What else should I do with it?

Edit: My last note came up when I posted. So this blend is:
- chamomile – lemongrass – lemon myrtle – marshmallow root – fennel – lavender, and now marshmallow leaves!

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML
Courtney

I love marshmallow leaves!

Butiki Teas

What about using a little vanilla extract or maybe some mint leaves or orange peel.

TeaBrat

what a lovely creation :)

CHAroma

What do marshmallow leaves taste like?

OMGsrsly

CHAroma, right now I can’t tell since I have a cold. Delicate flavours are missing me completely!

Butiki, how about powdered vanilla beans? Mmm… I’ll have to play around. A vanilla orange marshmallowy tea would be tasty.

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons

Yum. I steeped this in a glass pot, then poured it slowly over a spoonful of coconut cream. Sometimes it helps the coconut cream not break and become a mess, but not this time. :) Definitely looks a little curdled, although it’s amazing.

Vanilla deliciousness, and coconut. And decaf! Yay!

Flavors: Vanilla

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 3 min, 0 sec 12 OZ / 354 ML
sherapop

I’ll have to try that combination—thanks for the suggestion!

OMGsrsly

It’s a decent dairy alternative, although it can look awful mixed in. I find a lot of almond milks don’t mix well, with Almond Breeze as an exception. Still, this is nice and rich especially if you like coconut!

Fjellrev

Almond milk usually tastes really weird to me in tea. It seems to make most flavoured blacks taste the same too.

OMGsrsly

Honestly the coconut does as well. Very coconutty! :) I pretty much only add milky things to breakfast teas, or for comfort now.. so I don’t mind. :)

Fjellrev

You’re right, it does! I’ve tried Silk’s coconut milk (I think?) and I thought it tasted … off. Neither seem to take the heat that well.

OMGsrsly

I swear by Almond Breeze – not the refrigerated kind, tho. Still changes the taste, but doesn’t break in the tea.

TeaBrat

Silk Soy milk does well in tea also

drank Bear Trap by DAVIDsTEA
2291 tasting notes

More of this cold! So refreshing, but I think that Nana’s Fruit Garden is a little bit thicker and sweeter once steeped. Still, the name of this is awesome. Bear Trap! Don’t bring this one out hiking! :)

I convinced my friend to stop at the health food store, and I bought ginger mango candies (SO GOOD!), chocolate, and grapefruit seed extract. That stuff is very pithy, I think, as I’m getting a lot of pith from this glass of tea. Next I will have a plain glass to wash the pith away. ;)
