2291 Tasting Notes
This one can only be from MissB!
The dry leaf smelled fantastic. Like rich custardy dessert. Mmm. As soon as I poured the water over, all I could smell was the rooibos. Hmm. Fingers crossed!
And whoops! I didn’t set a timer.
Steeped, it smells like sweet spiced rooibos. Oh hey. That’s a pretty nice rooibos! I think I’d have to leave it to cool to get the full nutmeg/custard taste I’m expecting from the smell… so I’m going to cheat and add some of my home made coconut creamer.
Oh yum. That’s really tasty!
Well, I don’t know that I’d buy this just because I’d have to order it and it only comes in 100g sizes. But I do like it, and if you like the desserty rooibos flavours, this is definitely one to check out.
Preparation
Heh. I am a pusher, aren’t I? Glad you liked it. I do enjoy it as well, however 100g is just too much for me.
I have seen this reviewed and never gave it much thought but you do make it sound tasty. And yes MissB, you are most definitely a pusher.
Also,I have also had the “whoops! I didn’t set a timer” moments. It always makes me sad.
Thanks for the sample, MissB. :)
This smells quite grapey. Kind of like sweet wine but without the alcohol. I’m trying it without sugar or creamer first, as I feel that what I want to add would kill the flavour. I didn’t realize there was white tea in it (I noticed the different leaves, but it didn’t make it much further in my brain!), or I might have steeped at 185F, even.
Doop di do. Waiting for tea to cool is boring. This is why I like creamer!
Ok. This is pretty good, actually. Huh. It’s not wine, it’s definitely tea and sweet white grape juice. I’ll drink it, but I don’t think I’d purchase the flavour.
Preparation
Sipdown! Thanks, VariaTea!
Mmm, caffeine. Mmm, spices. Mmm, honey. Haha. I added the honey to help my throat. I quite enjoy this! I wonder if the local store carries this one.
Honestly it’s nice that it’s bagged in cotton. I don’t have to fuss with anything, and it can go right into the compost.
This was the first tea I tried at Kusmi and really I think it is the only one I would get more of. It is nice to have every so often.
Also, I hope you feel better soon. It is that time of the year I guess because I am talking to a friend from high school and she too is sick :(
Yeah. That time of year, indeed! :/ I have a couple of the black teas, but I don’t LOVE them. I’d rather have Damman Freres or Fauchon versions. :) Or Nina’s, since I’m getting into some swaps of their teas!
Nina’s is definitely a far better option when it comes to French teas. I am seriously in love with Nina’s Japon and Je t’aime (which I think everyone on steepster knows by now since I have said it a billion times). I also have a few blacks and they are pleasant enough but really not that memorable.
I have been curious about Kusmi and was just looking at their website but I couldn’t tell if they are serious. lol
Yay! Another sample. I think this one is from Veronica, but I might be wrong. (ACK!) I need to be better at labelling my samples and swaps when they come in.
I added a little honey to this because my throat is still sore. Ugh. And I have a horribly long day at work as well. I worked late yesterday, then slept in by accident and rolled out of bed and have been working at home drinking tea and eating breakfast. I have to head in soon, though. I’d rather go grocery shopping and set up some stuff in the crock pot and do the paperwork from home…
This Earl Grey Cream is actually pretty good! Normally I’d add loads of milk and honey to an EG, but with this no sugar thing, I’m appreciating the flavours of the teas more. With just a tiny bit of honey, this is moderately bergamot-y and fairly creamy. Not as creamy as cream, but I can tell it’s there.
I don’t know that I’d stock it, as I prefer Paris for an alternate EG, but this is nice.
Preparation
I swear this is something going around Steepster! How is that possible? ;) Glad you’re feeling better!
Aww, hope you’ll feel better soon. Wish they’d just let you stay home, rest, and get better faster rather than have you force to do certain things RIGHT NOW.
Oh, hey. There’s mint in this tea. And I can’t actually tell! Weird.
Anyways, it smells like dessert. Spicy vanilla nut cake or something.
Sipping it, there’s a distinct coolness on the tongue. There’s the mint. Thankfully it’s not too strong. The other flavours are all kind of muddled up together, though. I think this is a tea that needs a little sugar, but since I’m not doing sugar right now (I guess I could have added some honey), I plopped in some homemade coconut creamer.
Hmm. Not bad. Not really a fantastic flavour to me either, though. That’s a little disappointing. It smelled SO cakey dry.
Oh well! I have Gingerbread, and I really like that one.
Edit: This one is from wheezybee. Thanks! :)
Preparation
Tried this hot tonight. It’s pretty decent. A tropical fruity green tea. I did 2 steeps right away (2 min then 3 min) because I’m STILL WORKING. Yeah.
I’m going to cold steep the rest for the morning.
Thanks for the sample, Veronica!
Preparation
A lovely little sample from wheezybee.
Your samples are all in the front, so I’m getting to them first in my sample sipdown month…
This was really nice! I added creamer, and was working while I drank it, so I didn’t pay much attention… but it was good! I mean, it disappeared so fast. :) Definitely something to try when I finally do a Nina’s Paris order.
Preparation
I have a few bags of this thanks to wheezybee. :)
I smell vanilla chai. Apparently it’s almond, citrus and spice? Huh. That’s not “amaretto” style almond, but rather true almond, I guess.
It is SO GOOD with my homemade creamer. So good. If I see this for sale locally, I’m totally buying some.
Preparation
I swear Chapter’s had this one during the holidays, but only in a two-pack with someone else. But I’m sure they’re long gone by now.
I was just thinking earlier about if you were still liking the creamer! Is it still the same batch or did you make more?
I think you’re right Fjellrev. I’ll have to check.
NofarS, the creamer is 1 egg (or 2 yolks) beaten with vanilla powder and 1 tsp coconut oil, and 1 cup coconut milk drizzled in like you’re making mayo. :) Sounds seriously weird, but tastes like pudding, especially if you add some sweetener. It cooks in the hot tea.
Caile, I made new with two egg yolks. It set up in the fridge this time! So good.
Oh god, with “someone” else. I clearly haven’t woken up yet. Next time I’m downtown, I’ll check the one here to see if they have any left. :)
A cup of tea from WheezyBee! Thank you for sharing. :)
It smells like cinnamon with a little maple. The fake maple syrup that is a guilty treat for me, not the real stuff which I actually don’t really care for on breakfast things.
Didn’t taste like much but hot tea, so I added a dollop of my homemade creamer. The vanilla and the richness from the coconut add so much. I think the tea would be good plain and slightly cooled, but I was impatient. :) I wouldn’t pin this as “French Toast”. Rather it’s a sweet cinnamony breakfast tea.
It’s pretty good, but nothing I’ll rush out to get. Mostly because I have So Many teas right now that I need to get through! (I’ll probably resteep this one. I hope it holds up!)
