drank Berry Kiwi Colada by Teavana
618 tasting notes

I knew once I brewed this tea that I should have probably had it cold instead. I can smell all of the individual parts of this tea’s name: the berry, tart kiwi and the coconut. I’m impressed that all of these components can be detected after hot water has been added. Usually with these fruity blends, it all sort of turns into one massive fruity scent. Everything gets lost!

Sipping… wow, this is tart! I wasn’t expecting it, but then again it does have hibiscus.. so.. duh. Towards the end of the sip I taste some of the sweeter fruits — likely strawberry? Not much coconut for me at all, but I’m pleased with what I can taste. Although it’s heavy on the hibiscus, this tea is tastier than I thought it would be. I think this would make a great iced tea for the summer weather and the sweet fruits might pop a bit more with some added sugar. Thank you jump62359 for this sample!

I definitely didn’t know there was supposed to be coconut in this haha.
I’ve only had this cold and I feel like it would be a bit too tart if I had it hot

I tasted more of a banana flavor then anything in this one…Unfortunately I’m kind of iffy on bananas, though I’m trying to eat more of them (For the potassium, my hands have been aching more recently.)

I received this nice tin for Christmas from my brother’s girlfriend. I love peach in teas and I am always willing to try a white tea as it often provides a nice base for certain flavors to come through. The scent of the tea didn’t smell that great to me — there is something off, a little too sickly sweet?

Sipping… the peach flavor in this reminds me of really sugary peach candies. It’s a little overwhelming at first, but the white tea comes in to calm down the heavy artificial note. It’s very smooth, buttery and very pleasant. This is definitely a decent tea, but is possibly a little bit too sweet and artificial for me. I would drink this again for the white tea base because it’s so smooth and I think I can come around to the peach flavor the more I drink it!

drank Golden Honey Dew by Lupicia
618 tasting notes

I’m very excited, but also worried to be trying this tea. The reason is… well, I love rooibos and I love honeydew melon and this tea is only available for purchase in store. I don’t have a Lupicia anywhere near me, so I may just be stuck pining for this tea after I try it. Oh, it smells so sweet and juicy!

Sipping… this is very nice! It starts out very mellow — a tiny bit of earthy green rooibos mixed with a sweet, juicy melon. It reminds me of some kind of a cactus fruit… sweet, prickly and a sparkling. The flavor sort of blooms on the tongue while still remaining soft. I find that I get the most melon flavor when I sort of gulp the tea down since it’s so delicate. It’s just … juicy, light and yummy! Yes, this is definitely one of my top rooibos teas. I want pounds upon pounds of this tea. I’ll have to find some way to have someone purchase this tea for me in store… I don’t know anyone in California, though! It’s just so lovely. Thank you a million times over, jump62359, for sharing some with me!

jump62359

Even if there was a Lupicia near you, they only sell this in San Francisco! Why? I have no idea :/ It’s a pain in the butt, I know. My favourite tea and it’s a 7 hour drive away :/
But next time I’m in the city, I’ll probably buy like tons of this tea haha. I purchased about 3 packages last time and I’m already halfway through the last one!

drank Bourbon Vanilla by Kusmi Tea
618 tasting notes

It’s cloudy and a bit cold out today. I have an assignment I need to finish and tea makes working better, so Bourbon Vanilla it is! The scent of this cup scares me a little only because I’m getting a rather heavy note of licorice and the black tea base.

Sipping… I taste the black tea base and that “thing” that smells like licorice. It reminds me of something more exotic, as if that’s the way it should taste and I’m just unfamiliar with the flavor. I don’t taste much creamy vanilla, but I’m still intrigued. Towards the end of the sip, I catch a bit of sweetness and a little bit of that wet cardboard character that I’ve found in Kusmi’s black teas. While this certainly isn’t the best vanilla tea I’ve ever had, I actually like it more than I thought I would the second time around. I don’t think I would go out of my way to buy a bunch of it and I’m actually more interested in Kusmi’s Caramel (also need to try that one again as it’s been a while), but I’m very happy to have given this a try again.

drank Brulee Mint by Art of Tea
618 tasting notes

Dry, the scent of this tea reminds me of chewing gum. It’s likely the combination of spearmint and peppermint, but it smells exactly like mint gum and rooibos! There is a tiny bit of vanilla, but the mint really takes over. After it’s steeped, the rooibos, vanilla and mint seem to be of similar strength as far as scent is concerned.

Sipping… I’m liking this more than I thought I would! Usually mint overpowers everything, but it’s rather toned down in this blend. The main flavors are mint and wood from the rooibos. The brûlée part of the tea is really just a vanilla note for me, but it adds a bit of something smooth. It actually keeps the tea from being too much like toothpaste or a splintery, dry mint rooibos. Without it, I don’t think I’d like this cup as much.

drank Rooibos Garden by Art of Tea

I didn’t know if I should add this to my most recent order with Art of Tea, but it seemed like I should just give it a try. As much as I like rooibos, it seemed like this blend wouldn’t be all that special. I definitely taste sweet, woody rooibos, but there is something fruity that I can’t seem to identify. I can sort of pick out mango and some kind of tropical fruit if I try, but it’s really just a general kind of artificial fruit punch flavor. I think this is a very interesting combination to try with rooibos, but it doesn’t sit well with my tastebuds.

drank Melon White Tea by Lupicia
618 tasting notes

Mmmm.. this tea is just what I needed this afternoon! It’s light, crisp, refreshing and most importantly, with a sweet & juicy melon flavor! This cup, compared to Lupicia’s other melon teas, is more evenly balanced. It seems like there is enough melon for me to enjoy, but the white tea base isn’t lost. The white tea is crisp, a little bit minty and sweet. My usual problem with many of the melon teas out there is that the melon isn’t strong enough, but it’s just right with this blend. Thank you SO much, jump62359 for sharing some of this with me! I am beyond pleased to have been able to try this. Delicious!

jump62359

Ahh apologies that the sample was fairly small!
Next time I go to Lupicia, I’ll probably get another pack so I can send you a decent sample size :)

QueenOfTarts

No, no! I am very happy to even have the chance to try it! It’s been on my list for a while. Thank you!

jump62359

Of course! It’s my pleasure :)

I have some of this tea left from last year’s harvest. I remember setting it aside because I wanted it to last. I’m trying to drink down a lot of my collection now because I have so much to drink before I buy anything more.

This one brings back the same flavors of soy milk, snap peas and grass. Mmm.. such a unique green tea with different notes. There really isn’t anything like this in my collection which is why I drink it little by little and have some on hand if at all possible. I admit that I have to be in the mood to drink it, but it really hits the spot.

drank Caramel & Jasmin by Fauchon
618 tasting notes

I was surprised to see little caramel squares and jasmine flowers in this blend. Well, you might think, “duh.. it’s caramel & jasmine!” but I was expecting more of a plain blend without the chunky flowers and caramel… nice! The scent of this tea is lovely — sweet jasmine and buttery caramel.

Sipping… oh, I like this! It’s heavy on the jasmine, but not so much that it becomes stinky or gives me a headache. The caramel follows closely behind and offers a lingering sort of sweetness. I also get a little bit of something like vanilla ice cream in the finish. Yum! The base is interesting… more green than black for me. Not astringent, but not terribly smooth either… something in between. Quite a nice and sweet tea. A good choice for when you can’t decide between flowers or dessert!

I’d never have thought of putting these flavours together, but ohh, I like the sound of this!

I love the name of this tea despite not being crazy about walnuts. Actually, I take that back.. I like walnuts when they’re in baked things – chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, oatmeal cookies. On their own, I’m not crazy about ’em. Anyway, back to the tea! The scent of this is of a rather tame green tea – smooth, only a tiny bit grassy – and walnuts. When I say walnuts, I mean the whole darn thing including the shell. I can smell the bitter skin and starchy inside. Wow!

Sipping… hm, not as bitter as I was expecting. The green tea is light, very smooth and actually the sweetest part of this cup. The rest of the sip is pure walnut which is overwhelming, but quite impressive. I actually don’t mind this tea, but I wish that there were something layer cakey about it. To me, it’s a walnut and sencha blend, with no other flavors. If someone adores walnut, I can see this being a top choice. Thank you, KittyLovesTea, for this one. I’m quite glad I got to try it and will finish the cup!
