618 Tasting Notes
The scent of this tea is a little strange. It’s a bit like a berry bush, but with leaves and roots included. I’m glad that the taste is not as weird. It takes a moment for the flavor to develop on your tongue. Tangy, earthy and fruity. I’m a little disappointed that the flavor doesn’t taste like true pomegranate to me. I detect familiar flavors that I’ve tasted in Harney’s other fruit teas.. it reminds me of Cherry Blossom, but more earthy. Definitely drinkable, but not the best.
I’m having another cup of this tonight! The leaves smell beautiful – sweet, green and fresh! What I love about this tea isn’t necessarily its milky/creamy quality, but its light peachy flavor. I detect more fruity and leafy notes – it’s like a refreshing, light summer dessert. If I look for it, I can almost find a bit of milk in the background, hiding behind fuzzy peach skins. This is one of the prettiest, but maybe not the creamiest, milk oolongs I’ve tried.
As you know, I get very excited over tea.. especially over blends that I’ve been dying to try. Mandarin Silk Oolong is just one of those teas that has been on my shopping list forever. The scent is gorgeous, just as I imagined it would be. It’s smooth, a little bit creamy and sweet. I have noticed that I sometimes get the silky mouthfeel with this tea, but not with every cup. The mandarin flavor comes out as an almost undetected tartness towards the end of the sip. I very much like this tea, but realized that it took me a few cups to reach this conclusion. My first few cups left me unimpressed, but changing the water temperature (from around 190-185 to about 175) helps the creamy and sweet notes come out. I am not sure how this compares to Art of Tea’s Mandarin Silk. I would be interested in trying and comparing both!
This tea has grown on me and has moved up a few points. It’s still not my very favorite vanilla rooibos tea, but lately it’s been smooth and just perfect before bed. I’m almost finished with the tin and probably won’t purchase again, but I’m happy to have enjoyed many cups!
This tea smells just like lucky charm’s marshmallows. I definitely detect that familiar Adagio black tea taste and the entire cup actually tastes very similar to other signature blends I’ve tried that have cream as one of their components. I have found that I like Adagio’s black tea when it’s cooled slightly. Today I used cooler water and steeped the tea for about 3 minutes. It’s very sweet and somewhat comforting. I don’t taste CREAM specifically, but more of a heavy sugary flavor. Not a bad tea, but you certainly have to be in the mood for it! Thank you, brandy3392 for a sample!
I opened up the little pouch expecting an explosion of honey scent, but I was surprised to smell a green oolong. As everyone has already said, the leaves are covered in sticky honey! It’s not so bad that one cannot get the leaves into the cup, but I had to be a little careful to maneuver them into my cup. I love the idea of tea leaves soaked in honey. What a beautiful image!
The tea steeps into a rather dark, almost murky, color. It doesn’t really smell any different than other oolongs I’ve had before. The taste is of a relatively smooth oolong. It’s floral and definitely vegetal. The honey, for me, comes at the end of the sip. You know the way your mouth sometimes puckers after you have just honey? That’s how mine is feeling after each sip. In a way, the honey note at the end cuts off the smoothness of the rest of the tea. It remains enjoyable, though, because you get just a tinge of honey sweetness. This is a very unique tea and I am enjoying this cup because of it! Thank you to Teavivre for a sample!
I salvaged the tea leaves after I excitedly spilled them all over the kitchen counter. I couldn’t wait to try this tea!
First Steep: I’m honestly not tasting too much with this one. It’s a little bit floral, but very light. Hopefully the flavor improves with each infusion!
Second Steep: Grassy and slightly sweet. The floral notes linger on the tongue at the end of the sip.
Third Steep: Flavors are a bit bolder this time. Still sweet and vegetal.
Overall, I feel like I need a bit more time with this tea to get a good grip on what I’m tasting. I will rate next time I have another cup.
I have had the nice experience of trying the wide variety of tea from Den’s Tea. While I haven’t loved every cup, I appreciate the differences and details of each. Such different and interesting flavors can come from green tea! The dry leaf smells sweet and grassy. As far as the actual taste is concerned, I can pick up a slight saltiness & bitterness, but most of all, a dominating grassy flavor. Each sip ends with a kind of tame sweetness. A nice, very satisfying tea.
Preparation
I wanted to try Orange Blossom as I’m around Tazo tea all of the time. So far, I really only enjoy the Passion tea and only on a rare occasion. I didn’t find that this tea had a whole lot of flavor. I could also detect the licorice and you know how I feel about that. I’m glad I tried this tea so I know not to have it again.
This is just the kind of tea that I needed tonight. I’ve had my share of lemon meringue pie rooibos teas and I have to say that I haven’t been noticing a huge difference between all of them. They all seem equally delicious and memorable to me. This one, however, seems to have a stronger lemon note with more of a dessert quality. I also have a weird teeth-coating sensation after drinking this tea. It feels like I’ve had a sugary soda — not terribly pleasant. Hm, well, anyway — I’m happy with this one. It’s a nice dessert tea with a heavy lemon note. I might say that this is my favorite Lemon Meringue Pie tea. I certainly wish I could detect a creamy aspect.. but for now, YUM!
