I got this tea as a sample when I first went into the store, so whenever I think of DavidsTea I get an image of Buttered Rum.
When it’s done steeping, it’s got this medium brown colour that’s reminiscent of spiced rum. The taste doesn’t really live up to RUM; it’s more like vanilla extract in relation to vanilla bean. It’s got the same type of flavour, but it’s more like a long lost son in flavour than a duplicate. And that’s how it should be, since this is non-alcoholic… and a tea.

I hate to bring the poor tea’s rating down, but I feel I must. I: For justice!
I only had a couple sips of this. I was expecting a kind of sweet, authentic maple syrupy flavour and from the smell I assumed it would be a lot sweeter, but when I tried it it tasted… burnt. And bitter. I’m sure a burnt maple taste may appeal to some, but I was mislead by what my nose was telling me. =P Like those sailors and those sirens in that tale.

Regardless, it tastes smoked no matter how much sugar you add. I: I feel like somebody added soot to the tea mix when I wasn’t looking.

Was this an in store sample, or something you prepared yourself?

This tastes like fall embodied. I forget if it’s supposed to be a fall collection tea (I remember it being winter), but it’s more a ‘drink this in front of a fireplace for the full experience’ than… whatever you’re supposed to do with tea in autumn. I: It’s a chai tea and it has peppercorns scattered in it, along with coconut slivers and some other things I don’t care about.
I haven’t tried it in latte form yet, but I imagine it’d be fantastic.

I’ve gone through a whole bag of it basically on my own and I already want more. =P
