drank French Vanilla by Bigelow
2967 tasting notes

Vanilla tea day! Who am I kidding, every day is vanilla tea day in my life.
This is a sipdown of French Vanilla, a box of which I got before I discovered the delights of Steepster.
If Je T’aime is a serious vanilla tea, then this is an exceedingy silly one. This is pure bottled vanilla, without much in the way of layered flavors. However thats not a condemnation of this cup. I still sort of enjoy French Vanilla. Its uncomplicated, but it doesnt take itself too seriously. I wont be adding it back into my cupboard, now that its all gone, but I enjoyed it while I had it. On to more and better teas!

JustJames

hahahahaha…. yesterday was vanilla day for me!

drank Grenada by Lupicia

Sample from the Lupicia newsletter.
I cant say I have much experience with Guava in my non tea life, so I cant exactly tell if the guava flavoring is very guava-y.
I can tell that this is a perfectly nice fruity black tea. I’m glad to have tried it, but I wont be buying any of this for myself.

drank Je t'Aime by Nina's Paris

A small tin of this was a gift to myself for finishing my last Camp Nanowrimo fifty thousand word first draft. An excelent gift, as my writings are always powered by tea.
The balance of caramel and vanilla is quite good. The flavors are a malty vanilla and caramel, with maybe a touch of brown sugar? Yum. This isnt a light and playful vanilla, but a dark and serious vanilla, which is not very common, in terms of tea. Its like a wooly blanket on a frosty morning. I think this will be wonderful when the weather cools down, but its pretty nice now as well.

ashmanra

I agree! When I reviewed this one, I said it was a vanilla tea for adults. I have had this one on my mind lately.

aw, c’mon….. i didn’t put a line through my post!

keychange

Oh, this sounds wonderful. I find it so interesting that we associate a tea so strongly with the weather or time of year. I feel similarly about earl greys, too; I imagine I’d enjoy them significantly more in the colder months. And yes, I’m definitely putting this on my to-try list.

JacquelineM

This sounds super yummy (wool blanket and all!)! I love serious vanilla (I think Harney’s Vanilla Black is a bit serious too).

JacquelineM

keychange – whenever it rains I reach for the Earl Grey — it’s an instant reaction! :)

keychange

JacquelineM, glad I’m not the only one! It would be fun to one day try and organize our tea by things like weather, mood, occasion, time of day, etc.

ashmanra

My youngest says she really HAS to have Lapsang in cool weather!

I was wrong, I did get home with energy enough to make a cup of tea! Thanks to Josie Jade for the packets of this.
I have a bit of an upset stomach, and its nearly bedtime, so I thought this might be a good one to brew up. Indeed it is. Its not a rich or overwhelmingly flavorful tea, but I can taste both the lemon and the ginger, and my stomach seems to approve of a light tea tonight.

drank Yume by Lupicia
2967 tasting notes

You will have to imagine a contented sigh. I really like Yume, its a sweet balance of strawberry and vanilla, which are some of my favorite flavors.
This is going to be the start of my day. My day is going to be such that I might not get another cup of tea today (horrors!), so made sure that the cup that starts off my day is something I really like.
Off I go to start my day!

JustJames

i added this to my shopping list because of this review =0)

Rosehips

I hope you like it, when you get some!

drank Yellow and Blue by Harney & Sons
2967 tasting notes

A pot of this as my last tea before I tuck off into bed.
I like this, but it hardly knocks my socks anywhere. It does what it says it will, be a relaxing tea, with an added hint of lavender.
I’ve got a bit of this left, for a few more nights with Yellow and Blue, but I dont think I’ll get it again, though I would certainly not reject a cup ever.

drank Big Apple by DAVIDsTEA
2967 tasting notes

Hmm. This is an autumnal kind of apple tea, which I confess kind of suprised me. I was expecting some more sour appleness.
But even though this is more of golden delicious than granny smith, its still a bit bitter.
This was only a sample, so I cant make another cuppa to compare. Hmm. A thoughtful tea.

keychange

Yes, this did smell rather interesting in the store, and not too appley, either. Based on the scent alone, I can see why you haven’t completely made your mind up about this one.

drank Rose Petal by The Republic of Tea
2967 tasting notes

Last morning of duck/cat/parakeet/canary covering. Whew!
Time for another trustworthy pot of tea.
I still really like this, but now that I’ve had Rose Sented, I can see that its not the current front runner of rose flavored teas.

K S

I love a mystery – I had to thumb through your old tasting notes to figure out what that first line meant. :)

Rosehips

Haha. That is rather mysterious, without context, isnt it?

gmathis

Reminds me of a story my mom once told about having a watch-goose.

Rosehips

One of the ducks certainly would be good at that. He will attack you, and woe to you if you are not properly attired.

This smells like the prettiest bouquet that you’ve ever recieved. No kidding around on the floral smells. Brewed up its equally floral, and the sip is an oolong that isnt too green, mellowed out by a fresh and light rose and violet flavor.
I really like this, as I am a major fan of floral elements in tea. But be warned, if you dont care for floral tastes. The floral elements are very sophisticated, but they still are floral. For those of you like me, however, you will drink this up.
Cant wait to try a resteep and see how it does!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

This is one of my favorites! I just re-stocked!

keychange

The concept of violet in tea sounds intriguing! In perfume, it can be a bit of a softer, darker note, and is often used in perfumes that have presence (I’m thinking of Tom Ford’s Violet Blonde). It sounds like one I should try!

caile

Sounds lovely!

Sipdown. I do like you, Lady Grey. You may come back into my cubbord someday, but we are casual friends, not besties. Till next time, Lady Grey!

I love tea! I confess that I was a hot chocolate lover for most of my life, but recently a switch has gone off in my brain, and suggested that I might just love tea. And I do!
I’m a bit of a novice, but an enthusiastic one, and am happily sipping new varieties all the time.
I love vanilla, fruity, and caramel flavors, and cant wait to try more.
