2967 Tasting Notes
My last tea pot worth of filtered water went into this pot. For my next act, more water.
Ah, the Tower. I’ve been thinking about the Tower of London, the place, as I’ve been watching a documentary about Richard the Third, who is a favorite historical figure.
And its all grey and rainy, and this tea seems to suit this tea.
My best friend send me a “get well” care package, including a few new teacups, one of which I am using to sip this lovely blend.
Flavors: Stonefruit
Am almost through with this.
I was, unfortunatly, correct yesterday, when I said I’d only get one cup of tea. I did only get one cup of tea. Bleh.
Today, I am almost out of filtered water, and have injured my ribs from coughing. Well, time to call up the boyfriend for water delivery, so I can have tea!!!
This mornings breakfast was an english muffin with local honey, for which this was an excelent pairing.
Almost done, I’ve only got a cup or so left. But, hey. More tea is always forthcoming, and I’m eager to try more vanilla teas. Anyone have good recomendations?
Flavors: Vanilla
yep..angrboda has gone through a number of vanilla teas. I’ve had a few as well, but nothing has blown my mind..yet, though i did like the one angrboda sent me…but not readily available to us here in canuck land :)
I’m obsessed with vanilla, but I tend to prefer it mixed with other flavours, or, if on its own, in a green tea. I own just one single straight-up vanilla tea. (But probably 95% of my favourite cupboard teas contain some vanilla notes.)
My favourite vanilla tea is actually Adagio’s vanilla green, which is weird because I tend to gravitate more to black teas than green teas in the first place, but man, that tea’s got good vanilla-ness.
But oh man, I feel your pain on the whole cough thing :( I hope your ribs feel better soon!
The cough is much better. Still present, but much, much reduced, and now the coughing seems to be accomplishing something.
The downside is that I seem to have pulled a muscle in my side from all the coughing. Hurts like the dickens.
Oh well.
Fruits d’Alsace. A divided topic on Steepster. I like it more than many others do, which is just fine.
Fruity and mild. Its pretty good.
Do you have a nice warm cat to serve as a heating pad on the muscle? ;)
If not, towels fresh out of the dryer feel lovely, too.
this tea sounds delicious. on the H&S website, it is described as “Paris on steroids”… do u find this in any way similar to Paris?
Its raining, I’m coughing, and I need tea, damn it.
Enter Peets. I love Peets, because the person behind the counter never gets “the look” when I ask for tea.
You know “the look”. The one where, when one orders tea from a hot beverage emporium, the poor soul gets that look in their eyes of “tea? Tea?! Do we even serve that? What goes in tea? I hope they dont ask about teas!”
I try not to go to those places. Partially because the beverages are just so expensive, and partially because the tea is almost never any good.
Not at Peets. And today, the guy there was the best Tea Guy, the one who is happily recommending things for you to try.
Today, though, its rainy and I’m still not entirely well, and peppermint tea sounded like just the thing. And it is.
The thing about peppermint tea- I dont notice when its good peppermint tea. I just drink it and go “ahh”. Not in a “write-a-sonnet” kind of way, just a vauge background pleasantness. I only notice if its bad.
This is not a bad peppermint tea. Its lovely. Sigh.
I once asked at a cafe what kind of tea they had, and the cashier looked at me like “what?” and responded “black or green,” sigh.
LOL write a sonnet kind of way. Feel better soon! (I’m starting to worry—it’s been a while since you started coughing—do you maybe need antibiotics? Can I be presumptuous enough to encourage you to go to the doctor if you haven’t already?)
Bleh. Still not well, but doing my best to get better!
Am drinking vast quantities of tea that I do not particulrly love. This fits that discription exactly.
The best of my massive order of Simpson and Vail? Yes. Does that translate to a very good tea over-all? No.
This is mildly nutty, and perfectly reasonable, but do I love it? Nope. I’ll be happy when its gone.
I must say that Boston Blend, from H&S, while not strictly a pure almond blend, remains my favorite.
Interesting! I was just talking about this with a friend, how/why people pick out different flavors out of the same thing. I wonder why that is….
thanks for being honest about your feelings re this tea. as a flavored black tea lover myself, i’d have probably attached high hopes to this one. maybe now i can approach it with slightly lower expectations ;p
and i’ve been meaning to place an order with Simpson & Vail for the longest time now!
PS- have you tried Almond Indulgence by Butiki? it’s also an ‘almond black’…i thought it was great. in fact i plan to revisit it after my cup of Harney & Son’s Blackcurrant!
A Lupicia sample, and very good, I must say.
I am always wary with green teas, but this one treated me right. A full, voluptious taste, with a hint of sweet fruit. Pretty darn good!
Perhaps something to consider for the future?
For some reason, I’ve been thinking of spicy things to get rid of my cough. Madness? Regardless, thats what I’m doing.
Started off with a lunch of mushrooms and asparagus sauteed with a truly hillarious amount of garlic. Pretty good.
And now this, slightly sweet, slightly spicy tea.
In other Lupicia news, I saw that the Hawaii teas are avalible online, and I moved so fast to get myself some Loke Lani. Ha. You win, Lupicia.
This is never going to be a favorite, and I doubt very much that I will ever get more, when I am done, but for now its hitting the right spot. Strong, so I can taste it through the gunk, and a little bit spicy, which makes me feel like it could be helping to clear out the gunk.
So much tea to be consumed.
Dear gunk in my lungs-
I’ve been coughing for hours and hours. Why wont you go away?
Cough cough.
Look, I’ll drink lots of tea. Please go away.
Sincerely, me.
What a nice caring friend you have, enjoy your new cups :-)
