I generally settle for David’s Tea too for ease of access, but I’ve developed a slight marshmallow root addiction over the years which has made me extremely passionate on this subject. :P
The pure marshmallow root and marshmallow root/leaf teas I’ve tried all taste like dry grass and dusty roots. I’m not convinced marshmallow root really gives any marshmallow flavour, I think marshmallow flavouring and vanilla are usually used.
I think you’re right, but weirdly enough it’s the dusty grass/earthy quality that I love. I miss the depth it provides when a tea only uses vanilla/dessert flavouring. It’s definitely not a overly sweet thing in it’s own right- possibly more of a textural thing?
