15061 Tasting Notes
no rating on this one – another from Terri. This type of oolong is not my favourite even though it’s a roasty oolong. There’s a taste to these that just never works for me, no matter how much i try. This is a smooth tea though, so i recommend giving it a try if rui gui oolongs are something you enjoy :)
In other news, my creamy basil tomato soup with tortellini is delicious! so happy :)
mmm another tea from terri. As most of you know, oolongs and i don’t really get along, though the roasty variety does better by me. I’ve found a few that i’ve really loved, but on the whole if i had to eliminate them from my tea cupboard, it wouldn’t kill me :)
This is a roasty oolong, but there is a really sweet note in this brew that i quite like. I had a few infusions of this and rather enjoyed them. I would recommend this to anyone who really likes roasty oolongs with a little sweetness :) (f oolongs were my thing this would likely be closer to an 85, but i can still taste OOLONG…which i’m not a fan of)
another from terri! I’m attempting to get to 115 teas today while i work on making soup; cleaning the house; seasoning my first teapot and possibly baking something delicious to go with our homemade mac and cheese tonight. All our friends are off visiting family for the holiday so we have a grand ol’ day of doing nothing at the house…no commitments, just relaxing and enjoying things. Sadly this tea is not my favorite. there’s a note i’m getting here that is just meh… boring and meh. I’ll pass the rest of this off to cavo and see if it works for her heh
i picked this one up from teavivre: http://www.teavivre.com/xi-shi-yixing-clay-teapot/
it was on sale during their anniversary stuff, so i bit the bullet and bought my first one. There’s one that garrett has that i really want as well, but we’ll see how this goes first. heh
i have a confession to make. Jin jun mei is terri’s tea. It’s one of the few places where our tastes diverge as she loves a good jin jun mei, while i haven’t yet found one that knocked my socks off. This one, is so far, one of the ones i’ve enjoyed the most. Terri gave me a package of this one to try and it’s really nice. Lots of sweetness here to enjoy. It still won’t win me over completely but i’m glad to have tried it. Now to find others that i like :)
i snuck some of this from terri’s overflowing cupboard when i was there just to see if this was something i can get behind. I for sure got the chocolatey notes in this one as i had it this morning, but there’s something about the base of the tea that isn’t my favourite. An enjoyable cup, but i’m glad to just have my little sample cup to drink:)
last cup of tea tonight since i got distracted with vacation planning. We’re trying to decide between a new place in cuba (different from where we went before) with upgraded butler service etc…as a splurge OR a 7 day disney cruise to a bunch of places we haven’t been before. both options being equally awesome. :)
I am enjoying this tea a bunch. It’s a nice ginger tea that still retains the citrus aspect which makes it a little less intensely ginger, but still has a bit of a kick to it, which i enjoy a bunch.
Final count: 123 (i may make it to the teens after all before tuesday!)
Dude. Where in Cuba? The Royalton Santa Maria is where we’re likely going. Adult only, butler service and stuff. 100 something rooms so nice and small!!
we’re likely going to try paradisus de oro in holguin. Either that or go back to santa clara and hit the melia buenavista – we loved las dunas over there.
NofarS – it’s haaard work… and i have incoming teas lol
Yah, paradisus in holguin is the other one. Good one! We basically are price watching right now. Whichever of the two drops more in the next two weeks gets us. When are you going? January for us.
farewell hot tropic! while i enjoyed you while i had you, i likely won’t need to pick up more of this ever again. I generally find that most David’s teas aren’t anything i keep to keep around permanently or on a regular basis, they’re much more of a sort of tea where i pick up 25g, drink it and then i’m done. this one being no exception to that :)
had a cup of this tonight. it’s still a weird sort of blend for me. Popcorn in here, which doesn’t really seem to add to the blend, but doesn’t interfere with it either. Cinnamon, which is hard to equate to maple…but it works in a weird way. Not my favourite tea, but not half bad. :)
farewell my delicious chocolate tea. It was a pleasure having out in my cupboard. If only MF sold this on in bags and not as a special edition tea. Then it would be worth restocking. However, at the price of the tin + tea, it’s a luxury really and hard to justify unless maybe i get over to france :)
Mmm soup!!! I do love Rou Gui , sorry you didn’t enjoy it.
