9663 Tasting Notes
puerh from this morning, courtesy of the lovely dexter Now, i’m not a huge fan of sheng. They’re more hit or miss for me than shou, though i have found a couple i really love (wild monk, i’m looking at you!). This one is sort of middle of the road for me. it’s too shengy for me, without that sort of sweetness that i do enjoy from sheng’s. Happy i got the chance to go at it this morning, but i’ll likely swith to a shou this afternoon before going back to another sheng :)
Long day/days is going to be long. Start of a release weekend so i’m not sure if i’ll get to sleep tonight or if i’ll be enjoying my tea cupboard all night long. lol started the weekend off with some selections from Joseph W. since they’re tasty and will help me ease in to things before i start trying to knock back some puerh in between testing, cleaning and organising things :) i’ve had this one a ton, so not much more to say on it. I will likely pick this one up again once it’s finished and the dollar comes back up a bit :(
noms. Western brew of this one for a treat. this one does more for me than the art of darkness. Vanilla and cocoa in the first steeping – looking forward to seeing what the ther steeps hold.
edit: second steep wasn’t as awesome as the first, so next time may just go straight to a 5 min steep :)

I’ve been sipping on this puerh all morning and in light of the fact that i can’t get it anymore, i didn’t take super detailed notes. dexter sent this one my way and i’m always happy to try out more shou’s. this one had an earthy aroma initially but it lessens over the steepings and takes on a more subtle taste. The brew is smooth and extremely pleasant.
Chocolate, caramel, toffee, cereal..what’s not to love? Pretty sure this is more oolong than black tea, or a blend since it always does much better at lower temps, but i seem to have that figured out. I like the spice/cereal notes in this one that blend with the chocolate and caramel. it’s more bready like than caramel chocolate but it’s still delicious
