8570 Tasting Notes

Last of the teas from Han Xiang Ecological Tea that Cameron B. sent my way. This tea is a sweet, malty sort of tea….but with that very clearly “yunnan” taste, which i guess is sweet potatoe? toe toe toe toe…poooooo taaaaay tooooooooeeee… obviously, i’m tired this morning.. lol

this is another tea from cameron B. this is a sweet yunnan tea with a little bit of fruitiness and some bready notes. It’s a little weak for my preferences, especially this late/early in an overnight but it’s not a bad tea. I prefer the others that cameron sent me from this company though :)

so i took this to work last night/this morning but added a little milk and honey. perfect. that is what this tea needed. it also didn’t have ANY cloves in there that i could see, so it was just the echo of cloveygoodness in the tea. great tea to have last night :)

this was a tea from last night/this morning… added a little maple syrup and brought it with me to work for the overnight. not much to say beyond – delicious!

drank Pearl of Fruits by The Whistling Kettle
8570 tasting notes

cameron B sent this one my way so i could try a few different teas from whistling kettle. I’m always wary of “pearl” teas. I find that the flavouring in those teas tends to be sort of a melange of “stuff” that never comes across as a distinct flavour for me. this tea is no exception. While it’s a fairly smooth base without any bitterness, the flavour is sort of a peach like generic kind of taste. The description indicates a bit of spice, but even my wimpy taste buds aren’t getting any of that. Not a bad cup, and i love trying new things, but not for me :) thanks again cameron!

CameronB sent this my way since i’d never heard of and thus not tried, any teas from Whistling kettle. I am a fan of mangos and pears so i was especially curious about this one even though greens and whites are not generally teas that i drink much of. Brewed, this smells like pear juice…but closer to the juice you get in those fruit cups lol
Sipping on this i get a tea that bounces back a little between pear and mango. I’d say that it is more pear than mango but it’s a nice subtle tea. This isn’t an in your face sort of tea, thank goodness. I suspect if you added a little sugar to this, the flavours would pop a little more as well. thanks cameron!

meh. Not going to need to restock this one after i’m finished with the quantity i have at the moment. This has that oolongy taste going on in the background that i prefer not to drink. It’s not completely off putting, so i’ll continue drinking this but it means that i like it less than other teas from WP :)

Had a giant cup of this after breakfast and it was delicious. I’m really struggling to get out and about today knowing that i don’t get to sleep until sometime sunday evening. I also can’t seem to figure out what i want to do about tea tonight. Do i pack a puerh and just drink that all night long? or should i bring things to share… sooo many choices. I’m still enjoying this tea though i’m not sure i’ll need to restock it once i’m through with this ounce. It’s nice, and tasty but nothing “knocks your socks off” spectacular.

mmm old one probably?

Whispering Pines Tea Company

Probably. There’s a HUGE difference :-) I couldn’t even bring myself to drink the old version, and the new one is my favorite black tea right now. Next time you order, I definitely recommend restocking. If you decide not to, I’ll throw in a sample :-)

good to know:)

I’m running late today – i have to be down to the office this afternoon and still have a couple errands i need to try and wrap up before i get down there. Not to mention packing up some tea so that i can make a fresh cup or two tonight. While making a very late breakfast (even terri was up before me today!) i pulled out this one. I’ve never been a crazy omg fan of jin jun mei’s. It’s not that i don’t like them, but i’ve never found them to be as amazing as my tea sister or others. That being said, i have had a couple really great ones that i’ve enjoyed. This one is middle of the road for me. I’m really enjoying the almost chocoaltey, sweet notes in this one, which are tempered by a little bit of maltiness. quite an enjoyable tea while making breakfast :) thanks again cameron!

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
