Thanks for the share MissB I’ve had this one before but wanted to revisit it and see how i’m feeling about it after a year or so. I don’t like this as much as when i first had it but it’s a relatively decent cup of tea. there are others i vastly prefer from MF though :)

Final Count: 95 (8 inbound + a couple swap though…)

Finished up the last of this over the course of the afternoon. This will likely be a restock eventually :) Although, maybe not given that i adore wild monk and this one is a slight step down :) Still though. i’ve really enjoyed this one. slightly smokey and just a great time through each infusion

Another from MissB This one smelled like it’s name but the taste wasn’t one that i cared for until it was almost completely cooled. Warm it fell flat, but cooled it was a really subtle blueberry coconut tea. Smooth and quite refreshing. No need to keep this in my cupboard but warm brewed then cooled is the way to go with then one imo. Not sure if a straight cole brew would work, but someone should try haha

sundaysipping

Oh this sounds yummy! Coconut comes across as “baked goods” to me so I’m totally picturing this tasting like blueberry cake. Yum!

Another from MissB that i had today. This is a really nice peach, blackcurrant tea. I’ve been sick of “peach” teas for the last while but the addition of the blackcurrant to this one makes is a really pleasant cup that isn’t just PEACH. This was my favourite of the two lov organic’s i had today from missb :) Thanks as always!

MissB sent this one out way and since i had the oolong one today, i figured i might as well also have the black version from another company heh. In a black base, this one smells very much like the other versions that i’ve had with oolong bases. However, once brewed, this one falls short for me. It’s definitely salted caramel…but the oolong does a better job of contributing to that buttery feeling than a black base in my opinion. This was an enjoyable cup but i am already craving more of the oolong haha

whoops… thought i’d saved this tasting note and then accidentally closed it by navigating away. ugh. Well this is from hours ago and another of the teas from MissB I had high hopes for this one but it turns out that this falls into that fauchon black category that just never seems to work for me no mwatter what the tea is. I can drink their oolongs and their herbals but make it a black and whatever base it is that they use, just doesn’t work. I get hints of the mandarin from this one but overall it’s just a slightly sweet orange ish kinda tea. Sorry missb! doesn’t work for me but i appreciate the try!

Dinosara

Oh I really want to try this one. It’s new this year, I think. I do happen to love Fauchon’s black base, so I should be ok. :)

Sil

did you want me to send you a sample?

Dinosara

Oh I didn’t mean for this to sound like I was fishing for a sample. I know you have your tea gals that you swap with often and I’m sure they’d like to try it.

(Of course I wouldn’t say no to a swap, but I don’t know if I have anything you’re interested in right now)

Sil

haha i didn’t take it that way. As for the tea, MissB has sent us inordinate amounts of tea…i can send you a sample of this one, especially as it’s one you wanted to try. The girls here are mostly just happy with trying any of the teas that we get!

drank Caramel Salted Butter Oolong by Fauchon
15061 tasting notes

oh man. MissB sent this one our way in the latest batch of teas from europe. It smells divine! I think the girls may need to twist my arm to get my to share this one as it’s fairly close to the one from DF that i want more of… seriously creamy, delicious, caramel, buttery oolong yummy. Thank you MissB!

Dinosara

Woah, I totally missed that this is a thing. Is that the Caramel au Beurre Salé oolong from Dammann you are referring to? This one isn’t even on Fauchon’s website.

Sil

yea i love the one from damman freres…you sent a sample to omgsrsly and she sent a little my way and i’m in love! this one is close and equally delicious but i think i prefer the DF one just a bit. :)

VariaTEA

Sil liking an oolong?!? This does not happen often. And when it does, that usually means it is a very good oolong.

Sil

it’s drool worthy…. caramel…buttery goodness.

VariaTEA

Haha awesome! When I am in France, I need to go in search of Fauchon. I need more L’Hiver :P

MissB

Hiver was really easy to find in Paris VariaTEA, although it’s only available in a tin. This one was only available loose, and there were quite a few teas that they offer (very affordably, I might add) that you can only get in-store.

MissB

… and I really need to post the pictures of the Fauchon store! It was all fluroescent pink and crazy amazing, like Barbie meets Hot Tub Time Machine.

Equusfell

Man, I’m so jealous! I wish I had known anything about tea when I visited Paris a few years ago! I feel like it was an opportunity squandered.

VariaTEA

That is awesome to hear MissB! I think if given the chance, i would really like to go to the Fauchon store. Unfortunately I am only there a day so I don’t have much time to explore.

free sample with my order from TTC. The nice thing about samples is that they’re not always things that i’d pick for myself so i get to branch out. This one is pretty nice. Most people aer aware that i’m generally not a fan of oolongs -unless they’re roasty ones, and even then it’s hit or miss. This one falls somewhere in the middle..it’s not super roasty but it’s not a green oolong. there’s a sweetness to this that i like but there’s also another flavour that i can’t exactly pinpoint. Maybe fruit?

here’s hoping cavo can do better since i know she received it as a sample as well haha

drank Four Leaves Ripe by Mandala Tea

seems weird that i have no tasting notes on this one…i’m sure i’ve had it before. I’ve been drinking this all morning as part of my goal to try and work on drinking some of my smaller/older samples of puerhs. This one is delicious as i recall…. initial steeps being slightly earthy but more leathery than anything…bold…deep flvours. Later steeps are more subdued..almost buttery and molasses like… overall delicious!

first cup of the day from a few hours ago. Not much more to say on this one that i haven’t already said. It’s a smooth cup of tea, not my absolute favourite but really enjoyable. An every day sort of tea.

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling as well!

Most of that is on hold these days though, including tea drinking like I used to as I have a new little one who eats up all my spare time.
