330 Tasting Notes

Well, after quite some time and a lot of use, I threw this cup away yesterday.

The plastic absorbed the jasmine scent, and started releasing a plastic scent, so everything in the cup smelled and tasted like plastic jasmine.

I’ll miss it, it was about the perfect size and shape and form, but I am leery of heating plastic these days anyway. I brought my glass double-wall bottle from Adagio (the activiTEA) to work to replace it, we will see how we get along. It’s almost too skinny – I don’t like it when I can’t really comfortably get my hand in a glass to clean it thoroughly.

My last cup of this tea. The tin is empty. Guess I will have to let it air out and then reuse it for something else :)

I am drinking my tea with Goat’s milk this week, and I wanted to try it out and try some salted tea this weekend. I might have to do that tonight, which means a run to the store for supplies to make flatbread to go with it.

I am not much of a fan of the goat milk in sweetened tea. Too much of a tang. Makes for wonderful yogurt, not so much for milky tea :)

Good morning Steepsterites.

This morning’s morning tea is A&D’s Double Knit Blend. I realized my previous entries on this were positively Neandertalian in detail, so here’s a little more than the previous grunting.

I used Almond-Coconut milk in it, as we are out of half & half. I think I am getting used to the taste in tea though, I actually quite like it with this and with A&D’s Assam.

I think I agree with the other reviewers on this who feel it’s got Assam in the blend, that seems reasonable, as they sell an Assam. I should really do a side by side tasting and see how they differ. That might be fun.

I think this has a mild hint of malty spiciness that isn’t present in the Assam, though I don’t think it’s actual spices, just a quality of whatever other tea is in there. Maybe Keemun.

It’s a nice all-around, all-purpose tea.

My tin of this is getting low. I think once my Buy Nothing Summer is over, I will be down enough on this and the Assam to warrant an order. If they still have the three pack, I’ll try it with the Russian Caravan tea this time. I haven’t been going through Mt Gray like I have been through the Assam and this one.

Last night, the hubs and I went out for curry at a Thai restaurant we frequent. I had some of my veggie Massaman curry left over, so I brought it home and am having it for lunch today, along with this tea.

I had thought about chai with my curry, but decided I needed a plain tea that wouldn’t compete with the spices in the curry. Frothed some splenda and almond-coconut milk while the Assam brewed, and then combined for a nice malty latte. Perfect with my lunch.

Finished off this bag today (not sure why I never added it to my cupboard here). I am just not a tropical tisane person. Won’t be re-ordering it. It’s all right as an iced drink, but not really my… er… cup of tea. cough

I got a sample of this awhile back. I like that it goes well with the almond-coconut milk we have. Other than that, it’s not really all that memorable, just pleasant.

Enjoying my cup of Prince Vlad. Today is the last work day before a 4 day weekend. I am looking forward to it. I will be doing some spinning and will probably enjoy a few pots of tea whilst doing so.

Tea good.

Had car trouble this morning, so I am working from home. I hope it won’t be too expensive.

Sorry..I need 2 tires I can’t afford also SO I sympathize with you!!

Thanks Bonnie! Lucky for me, a friend has one of the devices you hook up to a car’s computer to read what error codes it has thrown, and it looks like it was a “random cylinder misfire” which most likely means I just need new spark plugs or spark plug wires, which shouldn’t be too bad and can actually wait for a convenient time. whew!

When I was a very young child, I swallowed an ice cube whole. It got stuck in my throat, and my mother had me drink hot tea to melt it away. That started a love affair with tea that has never abated.

I dabbled with Celestial Seasonings and other grocery store teabags for awhile, in my young and foolish days. But a few years ago, I received a tea of the month subscription from Adagio, and I found that there was a whole other world of tea out there that I had never experienced.

I love drinking tea, and I love the personal ceremony of making a glass or pot of tea for myself. It’s like a meditation.
