330 Tasting Notes
I got an offer for a free month of Steepster Select, so I broke down and got it. This was in the March box which I received.
It’s really interesting, I can see why it was noted as being a common companion to ramen. It’s a tisane, not tea, so it doesn’t check that internal box, but it’s likable, and I will definitely brew the second pouch.
Very foodish. It’s like drinking breakfast.

This came as a sample in an order, and I am out of cream today. I have almond milk, but if I drank a black tea today, I want something nice and creamy. So I went looking through my greens and herbals for something interesting.
I need to reduce the size of my stash a bit, so I figured getting rid of one entire sample envelope would be a good idea, and apple pie sounds appealing on a rainy afternoon when I have a bit of a sweet tooth.
It definitely smells of apples, both steeped and unsteeped. Not as candy-like as I had feared. I took a sip before adding some stevia, and it was palatable, but I had a sugar craving so I added in a sweetener. In the first cup, I didn’t really catch the cinnamon after adding sweetener, but it came out more in the second. I think it could actually use more cinnamon – it’s pretty light.
I probably oversteeped it as after I added the water I promptly started having problems with my Mac. But it’s not astringent, so it seemed to handle it well. I am not sure what kind of green tea they used – nothing spectacular, I think.
End verdict: Good for a sweet tooth on a rainy afternoon. Not something I’ll order a tin of, but I wouldn’t refuse a cup if offered.

Finally brewed up some of this after having it my cupboard for over a week. I have been having some heartburn so I’ve been cutting out the caffeine for a bit. Finally feeling up to brewing up a pot.
This is a lovely, gentle keemun. Not as smokey as the keemuns I get from Adagio, but it’s a charming drink for a lazy morning.
I prepared it as a latte with almond milk and stevia.
It’s a relaxing cup, and took my mind off some big changes that are coming my way and inducing stress. :) Good changes (hopefully) but that doesn’t make them any less stressful.
Preparation
My guts have been acidic for about a week, about the same time the trees started pollinating here. I checked my journal, & I had the same problem a year ago. I guess if I’m breathing it, I’m also swallowing it. :(
That’s what I have been suspecting too. I noticed I have been feeling better when remembering to take my allergy pill. Silly trees and their yearly orgy.
I suspected it last year too. With all my food allergies & such, a part of me starts thinking “what did I eat?”, but I have been really ‘good’ lately, & I can’t think of anything. Same as last year.
I think what happens to me is that when I sleep, my sinuses are draining down to my stomach and starting off a chain reaction. I also have been eating more gluten-y stuff than works for me. I don’t think I’ve got a full fledged gluten allergy, but it definitely affects me. I need to get back on my personal diet bandwagon, and stop falling off so frequently!
Haven’t been drinking much new lately, and I don’t want to order more stuff until I clear out my cupboard more. This is starting to get low, as are a few others. I might be able to make myself a birthday order in January. We will see.
Definitely won’t be reordering this, or any other Earl Grey. Just not into it anymore.
First pot of this. Smell – malty, not as intense as Laoshan black. The dry leaves are very pretty – a mix of black and golden brown. Brewed, it’s chocolaty, but mild. It would make a good afternoon tea, not sure it’s quite the thing for waking me up though.
Preparation
Someone sent a bag of this to me in a card. It is too late for anything caffeinated, so I pulled this out.
It made a very strong tisane in my small japanese cup (a little bigger than a juice glass). Drank a bit hot, and it’s pretty good, but I get the usual “wet washrag” taste I get from most tisanes from it. Ice got rid of it though. I really need to try some decent quality loose tisanes – I think most of the time I have bagged ones – I wonder if I am tasting the bag. Hmm.
Anyway, I kinda like this, and wouldn’t refuse another cup. Would love to try a pitcher of it, really iced.
