I am usually not a huge fan of herbal teas, their medicinal quality and usefulness aside I never drink them for pleasure…because usually they taste kinda gross. This tea was a pleasant surprise!

The taste is very mild and slightly sweet, not at all bitter or medicinal tasting. It had a very floral flavor and the subtle flavors of the tea are brought out with just a touch of honey.

The aroma is that of a summer field, very green and floral, not at all unpleasant.

The best part is it seems to be working, the tea claims to help relax you and help you sleep and I certainly feel relaxed and sleepy. A wonderful before bed tea!

Pu-erh has a very distinct aroma, and some may find it off-putting, but I love it. The aroma reminds me of a rich, earthy, smell, almost similar to a pile of autumn leaves. As to be expected from a fermented tea…it smells like it has been fermented! I find this Pu-erh really brings out the earthy aroma that a lot of bagged Pu-erh teas lack.

The flavor is very rich and again very earthy. The packaging claims that the flavor is supposed to be malty but to be honest I do not taste the malt (which is not a deterrent in my case since I do not like malty things) The flavor is very good for a boxed Pu-erh and it fills the craving until you can get loose (or brick)

drank Hoji-cha by Yamamotoyama

The aroma of the tea vaguely reminds me of a lower grade Oolong and is very pleasant. It is not an overpowering aroma and has a tendency to fade pretty quickly.

The taste is great, Hoji-cha might be my favorite tea from Yamamotoyama Teas. The subtle smokiness with the rich taste of green is an excellent blend of flavors.

Great for an Autumn day, I find the flavors evoke the smoky quality of the air, the crispness and the color of the leaves

The aroma of this tea is very strongly cinnamon which, if you enjoy that smell is a good thing. Sadly I do not detect any of the other spices or ingredient listed (sad, since I think a nice hint of orange as promised would have been great)

The flavor is also primarily cinnamon and I can maybe just barely taste the rooibus. I love cinnamon but I am sad that you cannot taste anything else in the blend. The aftertaste is slightly bitter which I assume is from the Chicory.

Overall I was not very impressed by this tea but I did still enjoy it.

drank Lavender Sencha by Wegmans

The aroma of lavender overpowers the aroma of the sencha with the fresh leaves, it is sad but I love the smell of lavender and am a sucker for anything lavender flavored.

The brewed tea has more of the bright green aroma of the sencha which blends well with the lavender. The color is also a really lovely light green.

The taste is somewhat evocative of pine needles and the smell of grass. It is wonderful, very clean and green! This is one of my favorite floral greens from Wegmans, I think the taste is just so unique and yummy

When I first opened the package I thought, is this a fermented tea? It had the rich earthy aroma of a Pu Erh and the smokiness of a mild Lapsang Souchong with just a hint of that ‘Asian Market’ smell that you get with Pu Erhs. It is delightful and unfamiliar, certainly a new aroma from a green tea.

Once the leaves have been brewed their aroma changes drastically to mildly smoked chestnuts with hints of the vegetal green you expect from a green tea.

The flavor of the tea is very mild and it feels like it cleanses my palate. The flavor is evocative of distant campfires and summer evenings on a lake.

Each infusion brings out something a little different. Sometimes you get more of the vegetal green, other times a grassy green.

used to drink tons of coffee, the by product of working in a coffee shop as a teenager. I got a bit sick of it, but still love the smell and taste of it on occasion.

The aroma is delightful, a mellow blend of tea mixed with rich chocolate and coffee and a sweet yet slightly tangy kick of strawberry. The smell reminded me instantly of the Strawberry Chocolate covered Espresso beans I used to munch on.

The taste is hard to explain, it certainly tastes like all the ingredients but since they are ingredients I have never thought about mixing it was surprising. It is a perfect cup for a cool rainy day or for snuggling up with a good book…or if you want to be decadent and enjoy chocolate covered strawberries without the eating part.

drank Earl Grey by Twinings

The first thing that struck me about this tea was the aroma, this might be the first Earl Grey I have sampled where you can smell the tea under the Bergamot. So often with Earl Grey I can never get a feel for the tea’s aroma because I am too busy being kicked in the face with Bergamot. The aroma is fantastic, smooth and slightly creamy, which blends well with the Bergamot’s zinginess.

The aroma matches the taste, smooth and creamy! In my opinion this is the perfect cup of Earl, mild and not overwhelming. It has been theorized by my Early Grey fanatic boyfriend that I, in fact, do not actually like Earl Grey because I don’t enjoy the intense Bergamot. Finally I found an Early Grey that I have no problem drinking a bunch of, rather than just a cup here and there. Victory for Twinnings!

The aroma is lovely, you can certainly tell it is an Assam from the first sniff! Rich and malty. I was however, surprised by the amount of dust in the tea wrapper and then in my tea, I have not run into that before with this company’s Assam.

The taste is quite good! Malty, rich, subtly sweet, and not at all bitter. I think this tea would be perfect to make a Chai and I will have to get more to do just that!

I am a nerdy, obsessive, crafty, tea blogging, gaming nut. Yeah, that about sums me up! Ok, you want something more informative….

I am a Geek, hardcore fan-girl Geek. It shapes my life. I spend a large chunk of my life painting miniatures and contemplating my various army layouts. I hoard dice, get obsessed with games, and will talk about whatever fandom, game, etc that I am obsessed over until I am blue in the face. I am not just a gamer girl type Geek, I also fit in the collecting knowledge and spending way too much time reading and researching category of Geek.

But there is more to me than just being a giant nerd. I love tea, always have and have just gotten more and more obsessed as I get older. I love trying new teas and then writing lengthy descriptions about them on my blog, I love reading and researching the history and culture of tea, I love collecting tea pots and fancy tea tools.

When the weather allows it, I love to go mushroom hunting. I don’t eat them, instead I use them for photography and spore prints. I love nature and worked as a Naturalist in the Northwoods one summer, it might have been the best job ever.

I have Fibromyalgia, it sucks, but I feel people who are going to interact with me should know since I tend to vanish because of it so fair warning! I do tend to not vanish very long though. Also I have some ‘social disorders’ which basically translates to I am really awkward and bad at socializing, so forgive any lack of social graces.

I also have cats, love the ocean and all aquatic life, have teal hair, love cheese, and collect hats.

My favorite tea is definitely Oolong, but I also love Japanese greens and…ok I just love tea actually :P I am not a huge fan of lemony black teas or tart fruit teas. I also loathe hibiscus (usually)

This is my actual tea wishlist, you know that I actually update and keep track of…I tend to forget Steepster’s https://www.facebook.com/notes/amanda-wilson/tea-wishlishtshopping-list-perpetually-in-progress/10152336515414411 I use my steepster WL to keep track of teas I have had and really want more of :P
