First off, I should admit I added sugar. I always add sugar. I am a sugar addict. That being said, this is a really good tea. Another hit from my order from Steep City Teas. This is nicely fruity and all around a very pleasant blend. The black tea and the fruit are nicely balanced and neither is overwhelming. I am enjoying this mug of tea very much and I’m sure I will enjoy the rest of the pot just as much.

So overall, if you want a fruity mango tea, this is a good one, I recommend.

Trying this one out again. This time at a lower steep time and brewing temperature. It actually tastes quite a bit better with a much stronger strawberry flavour and creamy in the background. I wouldn’t necessarily say ‘custard’ if you pressed me though.

I’m improving the rating on this one, because I actually think I’ll keep it around as a good strawberry tea. I was thinking of trading it out until this cup.

Another good strawberry tea is the honey bush from 52 teas. It’s all about the strawberry heh

And here I find yet another rooibos blend that I don’t hate! I actually like this one pretty well. Added milk and sugar to enhance the ‘dessert’ feel of this tea and it tastes actually really good. I’m not sure I’d say ‘red velvet cake’ if someone asked me the flavour in a blind taste test, but it is still quite pleasing. Chocolate and vanilla and creaminess is what I taste.

drank Browncoat Genmaicha by 52teas

Well, I’ve never tried a genmaicha before and I’m not a huge fan of green tea in general, but this is pretty good for a green tea and the toasted rice is really good! I don’t like the green tea part as much, but it just gets a slight grimace instead of a full on yuck face like most of them, so that generally means good things. I do love the toasted rice part though. I can’t taste the chocolate at all.

So I read through the tasting notes this time BEFORE I brewed the tea, looking for some comments on brewing so I didn’t screw this one up like the Strawberry Zabaglione from last week. so 200F for 3 minutes it was.

Even with that, there is something that I do not like in this tea. I can’t really taste the pumpkin and I can tastes the correct pumpkin pie spices in the late part of the sip and the aftertaste, but something hits me up front with a bang on each sip that really is not to my fancy. If I drink it really fast, it is decent, which is good because I have another 400ml of this to drink but on the whole, I don’t really like this tea.

Writing this tasting note on my phone while sitting at the bar of a Cheesecake Factory restaurant.

Perhaps I did not steep this long enough but it is coming across as pretty weak to me. I’ll have to do the resteep for a longer time. But even in this state I can clearly taste the bergamot in it, just not the Assam so much. A bit disappointing.

drank Strawberry Zabaglione by 52teas

I wish I had read AmazonV’s tasting note before brewing this, I might have liked it a little better. As it is, it’s just okay.

The dry tea aroma is fantastic, creamy strawberries to the max. The brewed aroma has more custard than strawberry, as does the taste. I can taste the creamy custard with some very weak strawberry in the background. I don’t dislike this tea. It has the potential to be very good if the reviews on it are any indication, if I can get the brewing time/temp right, I just did not do it well here, I don’t think. I’ve got one more mug of this, going to try without milk this time (added both milk and rock sugar in the current cup).

Also, I’ve never had Zabaglione or even custard very much so I have no idea how it is supposed to taste.

try steeping it in water a bit cooler than boiling and keep it at no more than 2.5 mins. that seems to be the sweet spot for this 2-2.5

This has really become my go-to morning tea for drinking a cup before work and putting some in a thermos for the drive. Today’s thermos serving was with a new (contigo!) thermos and tasted slightly metallic on some sips but overall I’m happy with the new thermos. Making 750 ml about a half an hour before I get up leaves the perfect amount of tea for a big mug and also a full thermos and approximately the right temperature to gulp down the mug if I’m late. It works well.

My first order from Steep City Teas and I thought I’d go for the classic mint-chocolate flavour combination because I’ve always been a fan of those. Steep City puts their own little twist to it by adding some chamomile to the blend that has real chocolate chips in it, along with what I think is peppermint.

The flavour is pretty mild with a 3 minute steep. The mint is a bit stronger than the chocolate, but they are both clearly present. The chamomile adds an interesting under- and after-taste to the tea, which is pleasant. The black base is barely present.

Overall I think this is a good blend for the genre. Interesting little twist to it with the chamomile. Thumbs up.

So this is my first try at a pu-erh in quite a while. Years, actually. My last attempt was a Teavana tea and didn’t go well at all, but I like to think I’m a little smarter about tea since then.

I steeped this according to the package instructions, 185 degrees for 2 minutes. From previous notes of other people about the subject, I also rinsed it off in my sink for 10 seconds so hopefully that’s right.

Brewed, the hot tea (too hot to drink yet) smells…fishy. Very slightly fishy. I have no idea if this is normal or not. The tea liquid is quite dark.

Well, this is certainly different. Very earthy. I’m not quite sure what to think about it or if I like it or not. I don’t hate it and I think I might like it in some flavoured blends but plain it’s a bit confusing.
